Refwatch: Rochdale v Ipswich Town Sunday, 4th Apr 2021 12:00 by TVOS Experienced referee Chris Sarginson is the referee for Dale’s home game against Ipswich Town on Easter Monday. The Staffordshire official is in his 13th season on the league list and Monday will be his 18th Dale appointment, although only the seventh at Spotland. We last saw him in February 2020 when he refereed Dale’s 2-1 home loss to Coventry, a game which came only two months after Chris had been in the middle for Dale’s fine 1-0 win at Rotherham where Aaron Morley was the match-winner with a spectacular long-range goal. Sarginson had taken charge of two other Dale matches in 2019 — the 1-0 victory at Accrington in which Ollie Rathbone scored the only goal of the game and the 5-1 thrashing at Plymouth Argyle. Fans may recall Ethan Ebanks-Landell was sent-off in that match, but in 2016/17, Chris dismissed THREE Dale players in two games! Callum Camps was sent-off for two yellow cards against AFC Wimbledon at the Crown Oil Arena, while Joe Rafferty and Donal McDermott saw red in a 3-1 reverse at Peterborough later in the campaign. Chris’s full list of Dale games is: Oct 08 Lincoln (a), D 1-1 So far this season, Mr Sarginson has refereed 28 matches, showing 75 yellow cards and three red. His most recent appointment was Gillingham's recent win over fellow relegation battlers Wigan Athletic on Wednesday.
