Reading FC sold out for Swans fans tomorrow
Monday, 26th Dec 2022 11:03 by Swansea Independent

Swansea City fans looking for some away day information for the Christmas fixture at Reading should look no further than here for some of the latest information collected by visiting supporters to the SCL stadium. There’s also some extra stuff you would expect from the Indy of course.

Merry Christmas !

2,570 tickets have gone to Swansea City and they have all sold out, there are a lot of swans fans (and we mean a lot ) in hospitality for this game and Swansea Independent are coming to you LIVE from the stadium as well !

Pubs for away fans
Located within a retail park there is a distinct lack of “proper” boozers but there are a few establishments one can drink at whether you are a home or away supporter. The first is the bar at the Holiday Inn which is across the A33 dual-carriageway to the south-east of the ground, the second as recommended by the club is The World Upside Down Bar on Basingstoke road.

The Hope Tap (on Friar Street, Reading, RG1 1EP) is the closest Wetherspoons — located about five minutes walk from the station — that has welcomed Swansea fans in the past and has a small beer garden. The Oakford Social Club (53 Blagrave Street, Reading RG1 1PZ) has also welcomed Swans fans before and can be found directly opposite the station. This is an American-style bar serving a large selection of cask beers and offering a good range of food options.

Parking
There are 500 spaces available at the Greyhound & Speedway Stadium, which is just a 5 minute walk from the stadium, and is a popular parking option for away fans. It’s now £10 on the day. There are lake and ride services a lot cheaper. Access is off the A33 at the Bennet Road roundabout. There are 500 parking spaces at Cordwallis, which is around a 5 minute walk to the stadium.

Train Info
The closest railway station is technically Reading West but this is only slightly further from the better served Reading (Main) so its slightly proximity advantage (0.2 miles) is essentially redundant. Overall Reading railway station is located exactly 2.7 miles north of the SLC with the resulting walk likely to take anywhere between 50 minutes to 60 minutes. Should you wish to walk rather than taking the excellent shuttle bus, the journey is relatively straight forward. Reach the A329 main road and follow it southwards as it become the A33. Reading FC’s ground is located near the shopping and retail park near the Bennet Road roundabout where there is a KFC and McDonalds.

Stewarding
The stewards at Reading FC can be slightly over zealous, remain calm when confronted by stewards at any football match, and look for a police officer if you feel you need to escalate any issues with stewarding. It’s highly unlikely but things can go from nought to ten quickly.

The home fans
Reading supporters don’t have a reputation for any hostility, the ground is fairly new and has a number of modern shopping areas. The whole aesthetic of the area is more about a family day out.

Beer and wine is served within the away stand concourse, and they offer a variety of food, all at only slightly inflated prices.
