The close season is well under way now as Dale prepare for life in the National League but it now looks like Dale midfielder Ethan Brierley’s move to Blackburn Rovers may now be off.

The Ethan Brierley saga was the talk of the fanbase in January and was heavily focused on at the fan’s forum as well with the club feeling the need to explain the situation. The Dale midfielder was on trial at Sheffield United during January before seemingly agreeing a move to Blackburn Rovers on deadline day.

Photo’s were taken with a Blackburn shirt but the deal didn’t go through due to an administrative error on Blackburn Rovers’ part which also saw them lose out on Lewis O’Brien from Nottingham Forest.

Despite this, an interview coming out of Blackburn in the days after the window closed specified that Brierley would still be joining in the next transfer window, that was until today when sources close to Rovers announced that the Brierley deal was off.

Brierley has been in good form since fully breaking into the team, scoring 3 goals in 31 appearances in all competitons.
