League Reject Saturday Rematch
League Reject Saturday Rematch

The Football League has rejected an application by the club for the postponed Hull City fixture to be re-arranged for this Saturday.

With both the U's and Hull out of the FA Cup, the logical decision would be for the weekend's rained off game to be put back seven days as both clubs have a free weekend, however the Football League think otherwise.

The Hull squad are now on a pre-planned training camp in Dubai and do not return to the country until Thursday, and this is the excuse the league have given for rejecting the proposal - apparently they can't be expected to play a game at the weekend after training all week...

U's Chief Exec Marie Partner confirmed: "Despite Hull having flown out to Dubai on Sunday morning, we have been in negotiations from first thing on Monday to try and get the game rearranged.

"We used our best endeavours to convince the League that this weekend was a logical date to play, as both teams were out of the FA Cup.

"Our case was put before the Football League this morning but has since been rejected. We are obviously disappointed with that decision."

This decision by the league now means the game will be played as an evening midweek fixture, though no date has been set as yet.
