Tyler Smith Returns
Friday, 3rd Oct 2025 10:01 by Chaff

Following online speculation, Rochdale have now announced a deal for former loanee Tyler Smith.

The 26-year old striker played 4 game for Brian Barry-Murphy's Rochdale side back in 2020 on loan from Sheffield United, scoring once at home to Shrewsbury.

Smith was at Sheffield United from being a youngster but only played once for the Blades. He had loan spells at Barrow, Doncaster, Bristol Rovers and Swindon Town before signing permanently for Hull City where he made 39 appearances, scoring 5 goals before being released and signing for Bradford City in 2023. He went on to score 12 goals in 54 appearances including a good run of form in the EFL Trophy or whatever it's called these days but couldn't really cement a first team place so went on loan to Barrow where he played 21 times, scoring 5 goals. As Bradford won promotion to League One, Smith was told he could leave and he left by mutual consent last month.

Smith worked with Dale assistant Jason Taylor at Barrow last season and is also the brother of Dale defender Kyron Gordon.

Welcome back Tyler
