Rochdale Football Club has completed the signing of goalkeeper Sam Waller on an initial one-year deal.

The 22-year-old, who impressed while on trial during pre-season, returns to the Crown Oil Arena after a previous loan spell with the club.

A Burnley academy graduate, Waller previously gained experience with Lancaster City and Hyde United before joining Dale on loan in November 2024, making 20 National League appearances before an injury ended his season.

He spent the first half of last season on loan at Crewe Alexandra before joining Harrogate Town permanently in January. Following his departure this summer, he featured in Dale's pre-season friendlies against FC United of Manchester and then joining the squad in Spain, playing Al-Rayyan, earning himself a permanent return.

Welcome back, Sam!
