Why do people quote a figure of 4.5 million to pay off Laudrup?
That would suggest he was getting paid about 60K a week. The league salary guide suggest that Laudrup was on 500k which would suggest he would get approximately 750k. |  |

So, based on a contract of 20k a week and with 78 weeks remaining on his contract, he must have a severance of 1.5 million. That is still a lot of cash and if the board were a hundred million pound business could have deployed the staff to be more productive in other areas. | |

Who knows what else he negotiated at the time? Huw was in a generous mood as we all were towards Laudrup. Maybe he got a termination clause into the deal as well? Would be strange but this is football and nothing should surprise us any more. |  |

In some ways this sacking seems like a "power-play", and seemingly what has been said by the board (according to some media) is not corelating with what has actually been done ...

Wenger and Mourino probably earn more than most if not all of their players. Doubt any other manager in the PL does. |  |

Early release is in fact the same as termination of a contract, which is otherwise intended to run its course.
If reports are true that Jenkins is trying to screw Laudrup out of his severance payout, I would suggest his time is now much better spent finding a suitably experienced manager to 'assist' or replace or whatever Garry Monk.

The only manager who earned more than his players was David Moyes at Everton. This is no longer the case at Utd. Highly doubt Jose is on more than 150k a week (7.8m) the same with Wenger.
Rumoured that ML was on £1m a year with bonuses where we finish like the players are etc. So he is owed a basic of £1.5m and then what ever bonuses he manages to get out of it as well. And don't forget the 3 backroom staff another £0.5m there at least. So in my guess we looking at around £2.5m in total. |  |
