To be fair, that comment does make you sound like a kn*b.

De Guzman wants to stay with us :) on 10:03 - May 16 with 2203 views | johnlangy | He's not very good defensively, he can't tackle, he can't win the ball in the air etc etc. But we've got other players who are good at that. It's what he CAN do that others can't that makes him well worth buying. On another thread someone said that he's scored 15 goals in the last two seasons. How many assists does he have also ? With JJS also providing 5/6/7 goals from midfield that's a brilliant return and, coupled with a decent number from Bony again would almost ensure another PL season worth £70 m or so. I'd happily pay £5 m for that.

I don't agree with the common wisdom that he's not very good defensively. People see him get shrugged off the ball, and while it is true that he is lightweight in a 50/50, that doesn't mean he doesn't offer anything. I believe he has a similar tackle rate to Shelvey, and what he lacks in "physical presence" he makes up for with his workrate. He covers a lot of ground, and quickly and intelligently closes down space. For me, it's more a case that he has weaknesse in that area but also has strengths that we miss when he's not there. Hopefully he can start learning to use his weight a bit more effectively. This is something Dyer and Britton do very well-probably something they've developed as a result of playing at a lower level with a small frame. Anyway, you're spot on with his attacking contribution and I'd happily sign him for anywhere up to £7-£8m personally. [Post edited 16 May 2014 10:29]

You could also apply that argument against Nathan Dyer though - too small to be an effective defender but I wouldn't like to see him go! JDG is definitely worth £5mill.

bugger. lets hope de Guz stays firmly on the bench. One 25 yarder and the press will be all over him and we won't be seeing him again.

De Guzman wants to stay with us :) on 13:05 - May 31 with 1909 views | icecoldjack | So JDG and Vorm good enough for a squad that finished 2 nd in the last world cup, nice to see the Dutch value the players strengths more than what club he plays for . Well done to Jonno and Vorm .

De Guzman wants to stay with us :) on 15:33 - May 31 with 1696 views | Dr_Winston | Over the last two years JdG has either scored or directly created nearly thirty goals for us, and that's not even from the attacking midfield slot. There's no question at all that he's a player we really should be looking to hang on to.

De Guzman wants to stay with us :) on 12:44 - May 15 by scottishjack | That's my thoughts exactly. |
I was never a huge fan, but last season he started to show his worth, £5million is an absolute steal for a Dutch midfield regular international who knows our club and league very well. If he has a good World Cup he'll go for triple that. Anyone who thinks differently seriously needs counselling 😜

It really is quite simple, isn't it, when you put it that way. He's a football player, excellent at playing the Swansea way.
