Can't argue with that wr. I'm no fan of the way they (Labour) have run things. And i'm looking forward to the radical change you mention in three months time. If Plaid do indeed get into power i'm obviously hoping they're a brilliant success. All I/we can do is wait and see |

100% correct res. £2 million a day is spent on just keeping the place running safely. That's £0.75 billion a year. And that will only increase. The work in the Senedd equates to two days of spend on Westminster. Politicians arguing against the expansion of the Senedd continually quote a figure of £120 million as being the cost. They do that with the hope that that figure will stick in people's memory when voting time comes around. They don't mention that that figure refers to the cost over ten years. That money includes the cost of the expansion, the cost of employing the extra MS's and their staff, extra office space and so on. Disgraceful according to many. Meanwhile not a single comment when £10 billion will be spent in the same time on keeping the HOW from falling into the Thames. And that is all dead money. No extra staff, no extra office space, no extra anything. Just maintenence. I'm not advocating for the place to be demolished and replaced with council housing. It should definitely be retained but as a museum. People would pay a fortune to visit and that money could be used to pay for it's maintenance. And building a replacement somewhere in the midlands would cost a fraction of the £50 billion. And that would simultaneously give a huge boost to the area where it was sited and leave the bulk of the £50 billion to be spent where it's needed most. |

It makes you wonder if when they are officially promoted they'll be able or allowed, whether by Tan or any PSR considerations, to spend any money at all on team strengthening. Judging by those figures that's a no. And if it is a no that's probably instant relegation again. Sad isn't it. |
 | Forum Thread | Asylum Backlog at 11:55 26 Feb 2026
Some interesting numbers. Some 64,426 people were waiting for an initial decision on an asylum application at the end of December 2025. This is down 20% from 80,841 at the end of September 2025, and a drop of nearly half (48%) from 124,802 a year earlier at the end of December 2024. The asylum backlog peaked at 175,457 at the end of June 2023. The latest figure of 64,426 is the lowest since 60,548 at the end of September 2020. The number of people waiting more than 12 months for an initial decision on their asylum claim stood at 22,275 at the end of last year, down from 45,094 at the end of 2024 and well below the recent peak of 91,741 in June 2023. |

I remember it well. In the original white (or green - I can never remember which is which) paper the idea was to refurbish accommodation in either the Brangwyn or City Hall in Cardiff to have a chamber for the Senedd to sit. And believe it or not the budget was £3.75 million. That amount sounds ridiculous now. |

Absolutely rubbish first half. No argument. The second half ten times better. So I disagree with that part of the report. Every player on the pitch started playing football. They started passing the ball. Even Ben and Cam. Very little across the back four. Almost always forward. It did break down many times but it also created a lot of chances and even though free headers went wide a lot were defended well. I agree about Ronald. Terrible. Nunes was in a different league albeit some of his centres were dreadful. Apart from the one for the goal of course. And what a difference it would have made if the clown in black had shown a few yellows to them early on. They were at it all game. And neither the ref nor the linesman saw the tackle on Tymon late on that left him hobbling. It was right in front of both of them. So much more positive in my opinion than the report suggests. But just my opinion. |

Almost what I said in a previous thread on the subject major. At that time the estimated costs that i'd seen were £23 billion. So I automatically doubled that so we'd end up with the best part of £50 billion. Some may argue that figure but when you consider the work would take a decade at least it becomes reasonable. I said it should be turned into a museum as well. It would be one of the best in the world. But the replacement parliament should be built in the midlands. And it could probably be built for £10 billion. And that could include accommodation for all the MPs saving an absolute fortune in ongoing expenses. What better way to spread power out of the centre. And what a financial boost for the area it would be built in rather than yet another enormous spend on the richest part of the country. |

Bearing in mind the shambles that the WRU have created re Welsh rugby and the Ospreys and the fact that the council are desperately fighting the O's corner, i'd imagine that they'd want to do anything in their power to help the Swans also move forward. The Ospreys promote the Swansea name and should definitely continue as an entity. But the Swans even in the Championship promote the City to the whole world. And with people like Snoop and Modric involved the focus is on the whole City not just the Club. I don't mean giving council taxpayers money to the Club but you'd imagine they'd be very flexible in any negotiations if it helps promote both the Club and City. |

A cautious 'for' having not spent ages thinking about it. The article says imagine if your team in 3rd missed out and the team in 8th went up. The same thing (not quite so bad but same logic) applies now with 3rd and 6th. And certainly this season it could be argued that quality wise there's not a great deal of difference between 3rd and 8th. |

'Another point is did his Mother the Queen know about it all and the King, I'm expecting the shite to hit the fan, but I'll probably be disappointed with the arse covering that's likely to happen,' As I said earlier, according to Andrew Lownie the whole family have known about these thangs for the last fifteen years or so. |

If the conviction (if indeed he is found guilty) requires a custodial sentence that's exactly what he should get. Any of us would. If that doesn't happen Charles' words 'let the law take it's course' are worth nothing. It would just reinforce that fact that there's one law for the rich and one for the rest of us. |

This one is misconduct in Public Office. But as was said earlier, this is the first of possibly many arrests. There are seven or eight Police Forces looking into various allegations. When Thames Valley release him, presumably on bail, any of the others may re-arrest him on another charge. Hopefully that will happen eight times. |

Spot on wr. It baffles me. If questioned on it they'd say we have to go to Cardiff because there are no decent shops in Swansea. The irony would go right over their heads. |

If he ends up being tried and then is convicted and sent to jail wouldn't it be funny if when he came out AMW wasn't even able to afford a used BMW |
