Interesting that despite all the positive posts on here about Ned (who I believe SHOULD be at the club btw) no one now thinks he should be in the first 11.

Of course its a squad game nowadays & we'll be lucky to see the same 11 twice running this season, but interesting to see how he has dropped out of everyone's first choice team.

Personally, I thnk him and Caulker would be a brilliant 1st choice CB partnership, young and commited with pace to burn. However, I think at this stage somebody like Caulker, with the potential to be an top English CB, would benefit more from having someone like Rio Ferdinand next to him. which will be a big positive for us in the future.

I'd like to see Onouha rotated in and he should DEFINITELY be the replacement should one of Caulker or Rio get injured/rotated this season. Beyond this year, I would like to see both Caulker and Onouha as 1st choice pairing,

It's the left back in a back four and the left element of a back three that's a constant worry.

Yes, unfortunately both Caulker and Ned seem best suited on the right of the cbs. Hill seems best option if we play with three.

Am worried about Traore at lb turning inside and playing blind passes. Would be much happier if Green didn't throw to full backs when they are being pressed.

Well I think if we're playing a back four then everybody would agree that Ferdinand and Caulker are our best centre backs. If we play three centre backs I reckon almost everybody would have him as one of those.

Fair point, but no one has actually gone for a back 3 with him in it as our best option.

Starting XI for Old Trafford for me would be:

Green, Isla, Yun, Caulker, Ferdinand, Sandro, Barton, Mutch, Fer, Vargas, Austin

Lots of athleticism, lots of versatility in there too. For instance, the formation when defending:

Green
Isla, Ferdinand, Caulker, Yun
Vargas, Barton, Sandro, Fer, Mutch
Austin

But when attacking, having someone as positionally disciplined as Sandro allows us to go with:

Green
Ferdinand, Sandro, Caulker
Isla, Barton, Mutch, Yun
Fer
Vargas, Austin

Plenty of options from the bench too if we used:

McCarthy, Onuoha, Traore, Kranjcar, Hoilett, Taarabt & Zamora

If we were to stick with Arry's latest fad of 4-3-3

---------------Green---------------
Isla----Caulker--Hill----Traore
-------Fer--Sandro--Mutch------
--Vargas---Austin---Tarbs------
