"The appearances by Alex Gilbey, Tom Lapslie and Sammie Szmodics in the win against Port Vale on Saturday took the U's to 102 appearances in the first team by home grown Academy products this season!

Here's hoping to many more in the years to come."

I wonder how many we have produced and how many have been in the past 10/15 years?

Off memory Camps, Cannon, Allen, Tanser, Diba, Buckley, Taberner, Thompson, Warburton, Gilks, Byrne, McGivern, Townson, McCourt. Bet I've missed a few...

Edit - missed Bell, Gray, Bywater, Warner, Moyo-Modise, Brown and Logan.

McGivern was signed from vauxhall motors, Dave Bayliss was one of our rare academy graduates from the early 90's. Loved him!

Didn't know that cheers, left McEvilly off cause he signed from Burscough if I remember rightly.

Never got to see Bayliss but always had the impression he'd of been a favourite, sounds like he was a proper no nonsense centre half!

By my maths, using Soccerbase, YTS products have made 101 appearances for us this season. Guessing that might be a record in itself?

There's loads you've left out, think the following are all youth teamers who've played for the first team:

Not including this season:

Jamie Allen
Callum Camps
Reece Gray
Joel Logan
D'Arcy O'Connor
Scott Tanser
Godwin Abadaki
Joe Thompson
Sam Minihan
Helio Andre
Josh Brizell
Callum Byrne
Chris Brown
Will Buckley
Danny Taberner
Kyle Lambert
Gary Brown
Raphale Evans
Ben Wharton
Matt Gilks
Clive Moyo Modise
Callum Warburton
Theo Coleman
Ben Kitchen
Scott Warner
Paddy McCourt
Kevin Townson
Matt Williams

That's my reckonning from the past 10 years.

686 first team appearances from players who have come up through the ranks in the past decade.

Bates was on trial from Leamington, played in Jonah's record breaking game away at Mansfield and wasn't seen again.

I included Byrne but forgot about some of the others, Coleman and Kitchen is going back some, they played last game of Parkin's last full season in charge didn't they?

Minihan and Lambert down there as biggest disappointments? Was gutted Lambert didn't kick on he looked to have a good career ahead of him.

And did Wharton play? I know he bagged 20 in his last YTS season up front with Buckley but don't recall Hill using him in the first team...

Wharton came on as a sub against Accrington and missed a sitter because of the awful muddy conditions If memory serves me right.

Did Luke Watson ever make an appearance? Remember he was unlucky with an injury but can't remember whether that was before the season had started.

Bates played at Mansfield in April 2007, which was the year before Jones' record breaking game there.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Does Buckley count wasn't he signed following a game v the yt?

Lee Duffy?

On a different note dale have only finished in the bottom half of their division twice in the last decade.

Buckley counts because he was signed as a YTS player, just like rhe likes of Townson (Everton), McCourt (Foyle Harps), Joe Thompson (Man Utd) etc.

Sam Minihan was favoured by Coleman and had one great game for us when awarded MOM. He fell out of favour when Hill took over and is now doing a sports degree at Loughborough University.

To be fair Coleman ignored him after that initial good start and brought in two right backs in the summer in Rafferty and Pearson.

It was Matt Williams not Mark. Mark was the right back that we had in the late 90's.

A young lad I knew from footy at school managed to get on during our heavy second leg against Blackburn Rovers some years ago - David Walsh. When I say young lad, he was young then.

Not a great game to make your debut in, to be fair.
