Nothing like aesthetics to get in the way of 'not getting it'. They might not be your cuppa but 'don't get it'. I honestly haven't heard a lot, but from what I hear they really feel the early-depeche mode/radio head vibe of using synthetics over a traditional 3/4 mixed with well done hooks.
I can see why they are popular, even if it isn't my slice. |

A bit like Muse, a bunch of privileged white boys who, with the means available to them and inspired by decent musicians before them, knocked out a few pretty tracks early doors, but soon fell into being nouveau riche banal session musicians with nothing to say, writing music for other aspirational nouveau riche bell-ends who lap it up as they wouldn't know rock music if it shat on them. |
Went to see Muse in concert with the Mrs, she was right into them due to some vampire books or something. Didn't know what to expect but it was the best gig i'd been to and suffice to say I've been to see them on a further 3 occasions. I agree that some of the later albums haven't quite lived up to expectations but i don't think Muse are unique in that regard. But each to their own I suppose |  | | |
