Think on top of all that has been said we need a top class goalkeeper to push Fab who has not had a good season and his distribution is woeful.

Never knew getting old would happen so quick!

Fab is a top class keeper...he's been below par this year but we know how good he can be. There are no clubs outside the elite that have two top keepers. Nordfeldt has shown he's more than decent enough to fill in if needed.

This place has gone mental the past few days. And we won yesterday ffs.

We are sh*t.. but we are not that sh*t.. http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/matchday/form-guide.html

Aston Villa have lost 6 in a row
Palace haven't won in 12.. lost 6 in a row at home
Newcastle have lost 6 in a row away from home

Getting players in to challenge or push Gylfi and Fabianski is a huge waste of money and effort considering how much work the first team needs.

Depend of what system and style of football Swansea is going to play next season.

Possession football

Or

Football based on counterattack.

I prefer the first one, but I and not entirely sure what the Swansea board prefer anymore.

Ki, Dyer and Montero will for example do far better in a possession style of football.

amused that most peoples deadwood in this thread as those that aren't playing anyway, or at best bit part.

nice to see people going out on a 'limb' (no pun intended)

First and foremost we need much better starting fullbacks than Neil Taylor and Angel Rangel. Both great servants of the club, but not good enough to be first-choice in a PL side. They've cost us a lot this season.

Kingsley is promising but a while off from making the first team. Patrick van Aanholt is an option, but I would love us to get Jetro Willems, and maybe Janmaat if Newcastle go down.

Centre Back isn't a huge priority as Jordi Amat looks like pretty adequate cover. Maybe a promising youngster for fourth-choice to replace Bartley (who must go) wouldn't hurt.

Not sure what has happened to Ki but on current form he could be another one to get flicked. I think Fer gives us more - I'd like us to get him

Gomis and Eder you'd think are gone, so a striker or two is a must. Plenty of options out there but getting it right is crucial. Bony would be perfect.

Another midfielder like Joe Allen, JDG or Tonny Vilhena wouldn't hurt either, to take over from legendary Leon.

As for Montero and Ayew, both quality players but wouldn't surprise me if either or both left too. I hope they stay and (Montero especially) get given better opportunities.

Others who could be on the chopping block are Tabanou, Dyer, Emnes, and maybe even Routledge.

Think there could well be a fire sale this summer but we need a revamp. Obviously this is not FIFA, so not all of the above will happen, but it is certainly going to be an interesting time.

Deadwood bleeding the club dry of money.

Sort of agree, although lets not forget we spent £10m 'replacing' them only to find out that the replacements weren't as good. Over the course of the season both have been better than a lot of people give them credit for. But Rangel looked shot yesterday. He surely can't keep going, so yes we need to replace him (and Naughton, who is rapidly turning into Tiendalli 2).

Regarding the OP

The question should not just be about the players! I hope the summer review is brutally open and robust

Boardroom attitude
Players ability
Coaching proficiency
Scouting network

All the above should be looked at

In the academy buildings are motivational phrases! Why would any youngster in our academy take these on board when at all senior levels of the club(on and off the pitch) these have been ignored

its has been a shockingly unprofessional season by all concerned

If I was the teacher grading the efforts it would have to be an E

I'd be tempted to give Tabanou another shot if we're looking at attacking wingbacks next season. If he hadn't mouthed off at every opportunity since leaving, anyway.

He's doing alright again back in France (in a bad team). Doesn't look like the lump we put out at Oxford any more.

Players to go

Taylor
Fernandez
Ki
Emnes
Bartley
Rangel
Gomis
Eder

Is it not worth keeping Rangel as a squad player, and getting a new RB, his contract runs out next season anyway

I'd honestly prefer one of the kids getting some experience as a sub/emergency option. If we're going to use a player obviously not cut out at this level (now his legs have gone) at least let it have some ancillary benefit.

Shephard was far from great on his debut but not every youth player gets to start like Rashford. Connor Roberts is another option after a season on loan playing senior football.

Keep:
Fabianski, Amat, Ki, Williams, Britton, Fer, Paloschi, Ayew, Nordfeldt, Routledge,
Montero, Sigurdsson, Cork, Naughton, Fernandez, Kingsley, Fulton, King, Barrow, Grimes.

Out:
Taylor, Emnes, Gomis, Rangel, Bartley, Eder, Dyer, Tabanou.

We urgently need two first choice full-backs. I'm for keeping Kingsley as he may be able to step up to the mark straight away but we haven't seen enough yet to be sure, and Naughton only as a cover squad player. Rangel - thanks for the memories.

We also need a tough tackling holding player who will fill Britton's role, who has done an amazing job for us this season - but for how much longer?

The BIG problem area is upfront. We need to keep Ayew as he could be used as the main striker or as an attacking midfielder. I'm not sure about Paloschi cutting it but perhaps another season will make the decision clearer. Can we dream about getting Bony back? Unlikely I fear, but would be a big statement of intent. We need someone of that calibre. Gomis clearly has to go. Eder? Why did we buy him? To then find another good striker who fits our style of play, can hold the ball up and lay it off (not constantly breaking play up by being offside) and get 10 -12 goals at least in a season is a big ask, but something we have to prioritise. There's extra money around from next season. Unless we strengthen with it we'll be in trouble.

Who will be the new manager to do the necessary? Not Guidolin or Curtis, although Curtis deserves massive credit for what he's done this season and will surely be kept on at the club in some capacity.

I don't know what Cork was doing pressing so high in the first half on Saturday but he has proven himself more than capable in the holding role in the past. Defensive midfield in not a priority with him and Leon around.

I sort of agree but also disagree - only on the basis that I'm not sure that we can keep on relying on Leon, who will be 34 in September, for a whole season. I agree about Cork as a solid defensive midfielder who we should keep.

Ideally we should be looking at playing only one defensive specialist at a time in midfield.

Although Cork does have the stamina to play an Italian box-to-box role. So much depends on who is going to be manager and what that manager plans to do in terms of shape.

A different manager may go for a 1 - 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 formation though, which has worked for us in the past. For example:

Fabianski

Naughton? /A. N. Other - Fernandez - Williams - Kingsley

Cork - Britton

Barrow - Sigurdsson - Routledge?/ Montero?

Ayew (or whoever we get to replace Gomis / Eder)

I am not sure about getting rid of Rangel, it would depend on how much of a drain his wages are and the overall Squad places situation.
He is a good backup as long as he is not expected to play 90 minutes and I am sure that if he could pass on some of his skills to the youngsters it would really benefit the club
