Don't want to hijack the thread, but just to answer your question.
I'm on nice coastal area not far from Germany so there are more Germans here than there were in 1940. The whole of Berlin is here on holiday.
Quite handy, mind, because all the restaurant menus are in Polish and German. I can understand a lot of German but Polish - forget it.
Everything is cheap as chips, three course meal £10, a pint around £1.50. Great cycling paths here through woodland and on the coast, we've brought our bikes and intend to cycle a lot.
