About a year ago a few supporters from different clubs got talking in the pub about league position and attendances and whether or not there was any correlation between the two. (silly question really)??!!
Anyway, we decided that a 30 year 'snapshot', (ie last 30 years), should suffice and so an average attendance over all those years and an average final finishing position was worked out for all clubs from the Prem. down to League 2. ie., all of a club's positions and attendances totalled and divided by the number of seasons.
Had to use available stats on t'internet and there may be errors but don't think so. All clubs represented were a part of either the Prem. or efl as of Dec. 2017. No clubs represented who are presently below L2 but those that left and returned have had their final positions added in; eg could have been 10th in Conf. which would equal 102nd as a finishing pos.
What was positive was that it missed a serious chunk of Dale's Mire-Days between '73 and '86. Another point is that there 'might' be clubs who are presently non-league who could/would leapfrog certain positions but are not included in the snapshot. Finally, the colours just differentiate the different leagues.
PS. I aint doing this again!
