Grab a Grand 17:29 - Jan 6 with 2517 viewsRaymondJohn

As the new year kicks in , update on the sales against Golden Gamble for the same fixtures not matches ie identical games is virtually running out equal as his the attendances 3% difference so thank you so much for your continued support.

So now you are saying it may/may not be an overwhelming success but only the club knows.

If you have a number that ends in say 8, isn't the chance of an 8 being drawn as a bonus ball 1 in 10? If so you might imagine the bonus ball will be drawn to match the last number say 2 or 3 times per season assuming 23 games or put another way that every 10 games there will be £1900 prize money paid out (100 x 9 and £1000x 1) which when averaged across 10 games is probably less than the typical Golden Gamble payout?
The worrying thing about all this is the time and energy that is put into a simple raffle. Surely, people who are paid to bring money into the club would be better using their energies selling advertising, sponsorship and season tickets? BTW, who sponsors the Raffle?

I'm pretty convinced the odds are with the club on a long term basis ,I was making the point the only evidence is verbal from employees of the club .It's up to the individual to trust what they say is correct or not.

Having attended agents meetings it was clear that the club wanted a bigger slice of the halftime draw, so no surprise that the change would be designed to effect this desire.

Poll: What is it to be then?

Nowt to do with me just an opinion, the unclaimed jackpot was trousered by the club with undue haste. Is a month to claim a prize the normal conditions on a lottery? is that condition printed on the ticket and is it legal?

This is not the time for bickering.

No. I'm being positive based on the information in the OP.

Sales of tickets are not down.

Ergo, a £1 ticket now sold for £2 at the same volume of ticket sales (more or less) must equate to doubled income pre expenses.

In my grateful opinion.

Think your mixing up the Grab a grand ticket prices with the Dale lotto prices.
Grab a grand half time draw tickets are only £1 each the same as the previous golden gamble tickets, so the monies raised in ticket sales as per the OP says will be about the same as the previous golden gamble raised.
As the standard grab a grand prize is £100 without the bonus number then the only positive I can see from the club side is if the bonus prize is hardly ever won, so the club only pay out £100 which is less than the average previous golden gamble prize, which I would estimate averaged between £250 - £300 per game.
If golden gamble paid around £300 per game x 23 games = £6900
Grab a grand would be £100 minimum x 23 games = £2300, leaving the club potentially £4600 better off. As Ray states the bonus has been won 4 times ready this season so an extra 4 x £900 = £3600 already paid out leaving potentially only £1000 better off for the club. Using this example if the bonus was to be won another 2 or more times this season then surely the clubs profits would actually be reduced and the grab a grand could potentially end up costing the club more money in prizes with less profits retained?

Poll: Would you take out of the cup & play offs if it meant McNulty being sacked?

Cheers, my mistake.

So just to recap - the take from the raffle remains roughly the same as last year, but having paid out four top prizes of a grand each so far (and taking on board the average prize from last year of £300, which seems low from recollection), the club is on course to just about reach the same profit as last year, depending of course on the probabilities of the top prize being won again?

Does anyone know how many tickets we sell on average for a home match? Apologies if this has already been answered.

I know that I buy one now whereas I didn't use to. But I don't buy a pie anymore so I'm £2.50 better off straightaway.
