Season Card update on 20:27 - Oct 1 by 442Dale | Why does it have to be every club? As illustrated by that example, it should be done on an area by area/club by club basis. If certain measures are in place and PHE give the go ahead based on current numbers etc, then surely that’s the way forward? Don’t even expect Dale to be one of those clubs right now due to how things are in Greater Manchester, but there will be some who should be able to be assessed. And if that means only 2000 attending a Premier League game in Brighton, so be it - they can be limited to lower levels if required too. Don’t think it’s a case of there should be fans at games, more a clear path to when that may be considered using the “Tier” system mentioned and the obvious procedures used at clubs like Scarborough. How can they even consider letting fans into any football ground while there's so many restrictions in place again in a public setting, apparently now you're not allowed to "mingle" either, may prove a little tricky getting to/from football grounds thats before you've even entered the stadiums.

Which is why local areas, clubs themselves and numbers would be the consideration when the time is right. Much like it has been in other countries and, presumably, at lower non league level where it has been deemed allowed. When that time is, who knows, but it’s certainly around giving people a better idea of how that decision is supported. Which is possibly why that tier system will be used to give people a better idea why their pub/cinema/gym is or isn’t open.

As said weeks and weeks ago the time isn't anywhere near right either back then or even more so now, I appreciate attempts to "protect the economy' and trying to rush back to some kind of normality with crowds etc involved. Just like opening the pubs it was another rushed attempt with a couple of token "covid safe" measures chucked in for folk to cling onto when in reality its far from safe, clearly. God only knows how they see its fine for reduced crowds to return to non league clubs when proper segregation is much harder/impossible than in all seater stadiums higher up the ladder though. Stewards found a fella hiding in the gents spouting a lot of hot air at HT of the u21 Utd game. Cops were called and he gave his name as Dyson. Reports of him drinking an Guinness from a can as yet unsubstantiated.

It is all clear as mud The Chairman of Whitley Bay football club was interviewed in TV last night ahead of the new season starting for them. He has been told that his restricted crowd of 300 max has been further cut to 150 max. He isn't allowed to open his bar before, during or after the game. 150 tickets doesn't cover the cost of opening the ground. And the TV reporter said "Local restrictions mean that people are told not to visit sporting events as a spectator". In reply he acknowledged that nobody may turn up. Talk about confused In other news Darlington is back at the big Reynolds stadium for a few months to share with the rugby club to allow enough fans in on a socially distanced basis. They are not in local lockdown. For their fans it will be bittersweet going back to what was once their home.

The rules are daft. Each tier from 7 and below has their own limit based on the minimum capacity for the league, not ground capacity. So AFC Bury are allowed less fans in than Radcliffe at the same ground. As funny as it is to laugh at Bury’s misfortune that makes no sense at all. I was at Glossop N.E. last Saturday and they were hot on distancing, masks etc in the bar area (the whole town is tbf). They were probably the most rigid at enforcing the rules in any ground I’ve been to since COVID hit. But I couldn’t help thinking league grounds like Spotland are far better equipped to apply “social distancing”. For a start we’re not all sat/stood on one level and don’t have limited shelter from the elements. Watch it rain at a non league ground, people will naturally gravitate towards the limited roof cover. Either have no fans anywhere (which I’m against) or the same 20-30% limit In every league.

Youth team game behind closed doors @ Bolton. How many would normally turn our for one of their games?

I think a points deduction for pitch encroachment would be sensible.
