They would have also looked at his activity in the transfer market and thought he's not going to ask us to spend any money. Nearly all of the players he got at Stoke and Luton were free transfers or loanees. The biggest fee he's ever spent on a player is £2 mill. Mind you, none of them seem to have increased in value.
