Fans meeting before the Bromley game, Friday 25th 5.45pm on 17:51 - Aug 20 with 4667 views | D_Alien | Great idea... but the timing looks a bit awkward? 5.45pm on a Friday, with 30 minutes scheduled, leaves an hour an half till kickoff. Wouldn't 6.30-6.45pm be better, allowing more fans who're working to get there?

The problem would be how much busier the bar area would be later on I guess. When the game was changed to a Friday, the issues you mention around ensuring maximising attendance and also the impact on the Ratcliffe itself were raised with the Trust and a request made to move it to yesterday instead. It’s now about making the most of next Friday, especially around ensuring there is real thought given to contingency planning for possible future events. It will be good to hear the information provided under number 3 on the proposed agenda: “ Updates on investment / finances” and what supporters and the Trust themselves feel is the direction the organisation should take dependent on various outcomes. Number 2 won’t take long. Despite the efforts of supporters, the Trust and even it being spelt out at the recent forum, it’s becoming futile to try and effect change.

Fair point about congestion later Is it the most important consideration, above excluding those who either can't make that time or those who really wouldn't want to be hanging around for such an extended period prior to kick off? Not convinced, even though i applaud the initiative

It would be hoped that if the meeting is to be as productive as possible, it would last longer than 30 minutes anyway. Not sure how it could continue at the Trust desk next door, maybe a word with the ever helpful ‘DaleBars’ on here can come up with something where the fans meeting is over near the stage area with more seating rather than tables over there? All depends on numbers of course, the importance of these meetings cannot be underestimated though. Especially for those with concerns about what the future may hold.

I now realise why the meeting is scheduled for 5.45pm It's to take advantage of the Happy Hour (and half) from 5-6.30pm!

Could it not have been arranged for after the game if we are talking about a 30 minute meeting that may overrun ?

Not really sure why 30 minutes has become the time scheduled for the meeting. Especially when the meetings planned across the season were due to start at 11.30am for Saturday fixtures. https://www.daletrust.co.uk/2023/07/fan-meeting-schedule/ Presumably these were not intended to end at midday? Anyone who attended the very constructive meetings back in April/May will know that to cover subjects properly, it took up to a couple of hours. On the back of what’s happened recently, to ensure these meetings are as effective as possible, it’s doubtful half an hour will be enough. Also, due to the location of the Trust desk, it would definitely lead to restrictions on further discussion and possibly affecting the clarity for those present around next steps. However, it may be made clearer on the evening and I’m sure that the meeting will be minuted as well. [Post edited 21 Aug 2023 21:57]

"It will take place in the Ratcliffe at 5-45pm. We have set aside 30 mins for the meeting but should anything require longer discussion, we can continue at the Trust Desk in the Dale bar." "We have tentatively put together an agenda for the meeting: 1) Matchday Experience at the Crown Oil Arena so far 2) Communication from the Club 3) Updates on investment / finances 4) AOB" I would suggest that the start time has one eye on the fact that some members will have work commitments on Friday, and the need for potential additional time has been taken into account, as above.

Hopefully it will be well attended, that’s the main thing - if it is, that was the concern around the time set initially aside and where the meeting would continue as it usually gets quite busy in the area around the Trust desk before games. The start time is spot on. Once it was decided to continue with the meeting ahead of the Bromley game after it was moved to a Friday night fixture, the consideration was around those finishing work. Looking forward to it. Especially with some of the ideas and interest shown in recent weeks around where supporters can play a part in the future.

Good turn out, thanks to the Trust for arranging it. Acknowledgement for a requirement for the Trust/Fans to plan for various eventualities. Hopefully will hear about a further meeting before the Barnet game. Thank you also to fans who have also made contact with the Trust/people attending the meeting.

I'd hope so. I couldn't make it tonight - does anybody know if any representatives from the BoD (not including the Trust director) were in attendance? For all the talk of the board being open to ideas / collaboration, I haven't seen anything change yet. Their presence / contribution tonight would be the minimum I'd expect.

The reason for the scheduling of Trust members pre-game meetings was reiterated. They are timed to be just before the next meeting between the Trust and the club board of Directors, the next such meeting scheduled for next Thursday. The purpose is to ensure as many member/fan issues are aired and can be addressed with the board. 2 members took the time to email the Trust as they could not attend the meeting tonight and the issues in both emails were very similar and addressed publicly.

Be useful if the mic could be used next time as it became difficult to hear Murray's contribution later in the meeting as Ratcliffe's filled up.
