Can't see a match thread, so here goes.

Absolutely awful start. Our full backs are all over the place.

Maybe not a question for Jim but the senior players, why do we go back to a negative style of play time and again? Surely they get an adrenaline buzz they get from the crowd cheering on the positive playing style

Hayes certainly does! His commitment to heading for the opposition goal is obvious. It is very frustrating when others don’t when the opportunity presents itself.

But Keohane at RB doesn’t solve the biggest problem: we can’t continue with East playing deep next to Gilmour.

To be fair to McNulty, he is saying he needs to look at himself.

While your fairly constant support for JM is pretty admirable, his ability to make a fairly decent group of players to massively underperform each week and look like an over 65s walking team is becoming increasingly obvious, it seems pretty irrelevant who he chooses to play or even the formation he's looking to achieve.

Would like to think I’ve been fair both ways - certainly more criticism for his decisions recently than praise. But accept everyone has different opinions.

We weren’t underperforming before the turn of the year, that’s the frustration. As McNulty himself acknowledges, he has to look at himself first.

The trouble is McNulty is doubling down on a system that doesnt work, all the chuckle brothers '" to me .. to you" football between Landell and Nevitt does is allow opposition teams to set up at the back. Its entirely predictable and pedestrian, time and time again our forwards were trying to make runs with no ball released towards them. There is also a distinct lack of basic professionalism, Mitchell bottled a challenge at the end which had he stuck a leg out, he would have been first to the ball and would have produced a clear penalty with their keeper sliding out of control , but he clearly didnt fancy it. Uchegbulam, has no idea about tracking back to support his fullback , both their goals came down our left hand side, a constant theme all season which hasnt been addressed...
And how Gordon is keeping Keohane out of the team is a complete mystery, Hayes was simply not getting released soon enough and consequently had 2 men on him when a quicker ball out would have put him on his bike and 1 on 1. It seems fullbacks are not allowed to feed ther wingers and are under orders to recycle into midfield.

Clearly a challenge for the playoffs has vanished, and losing 4 on the trot is poor. This poor form has to stop before it becomes endemic, it should have stopped today at 1-1, there were fresh legs on the bench and they should all have been used to shore up the defence, a draw , given the opposition , form and weather would have been a good result, losing again was very very poor. As Keith Hill said, " make sure you dont lose 3 on the trot"... well , better not make it 5 on the trot Jim or else the deluge from the roof of the main stand will become the motif for the whole season.. down the drain.....

Do the other players think they aren't as good as Hayes so why bother trying to emulate him or is Cian the only player that is allowed to play in the way he does.

You seem more than "fair" from where I'm sat at least, the stuff on show in these last few weeks is nowhere near good enough, blame rumblings in the background or whatever else but dress it up how you like he's not getting nowhere near the best out of what should be a very capable squad of players.

It's like BBM and RS all over again, we first wait to see how really shit we can get before we attempt to maybe change things around a bit, while allowing the season to whistle by.

And that’s what I’m saying, he isn’t utilising what we have well enough and hasn’t since the turn of the year. No dressing it up at all.

As far as changing things around, in our present situation with so much uncertainty what can we do?

If we lose the next couple, god knows what happens.

Lots of frustration near me today. Many feel that Jim is not the man to take the club forward. He is too nice and doesn't show any passion from the touchline. The pitch was deteriorating throughout the second half and we kept playing passing between Nevitt and Landell watching the ball increasingly getting stuck in mud. Jim did nothing to change the tactics or tell the players what to do. You wouldn't have thought we were losing at 80 mins. And the boo's at full time were as loud as I have heard for many a long time. The players are capable - it is the coaching that is the issue. Look at Nevitt today - devoid of any confidence and afraid to get the ball forward.

But realistically Jim is going nowhere and there is no threat to his job. The Board need to sit Jim down and share some views. The club is drowning and it isn't nice to witness. The extra few hundred fans we have had since boxing day have now disappeared. We can't afford to maintain the drainage on the main stand roof. Today we had people with tickets for the same seats - yes - two sets of tickets in the same seat and block. Both sets of fans were irregular visitors and had no idea what to do. And we all saw the state of the pitch after what has been a reasonably dry few days. (What has happened to the legal action there BTW).

On a positive note, welcome back Cian Hayes.

As bad as the pitch was, the forecast does not indicate that there should be too many problems.

Unless it really is that bad with drainage and we’re going back 15-20 years when every game is in doubt.

re. Dalenet’s post: so much in there that rings true. The overall state of affairs has been allowed to meander to the point apathy has set in as was the worry. Our whole future should be on everyone’s minds.

The only Plan B i can think of at the moment is to cancel all post-match interviews

If the interviewer is being paid and time/money expended on the effort, it'll be a minimal but necessary saving

Tweeted this before but it rings true on here too:

I don't think I've ever felt as low being a Rochdale fan. The years of absolute shite is now getting on top of me.

We are where we are on merit and it's down to years of mismanagement at the very top of the club and that doesn't look like changing any time soon and things will get worse. I don't even think things will get better because I only see this going one way.

I'm jealous of Oldham fans at the moment and that's not something I've said for a long time. We have no right to take the piss out of Bury either anymore.

Fans shouldn't be having to sell prized possessions like a f**king jumble sale in the bar before games when we don't get any information about how serious the situation is. Fans shouldn't be having to fund the transfer budget. Fans shouldn't be being blamed for takeover deals (to chancers and charlatans) falling through.

Today, after a 4th defeat on the bounce, really did make me ask myself what is the f**king point? 100 plus years of being an unsuccessful but well managed football league club all being thrown down the toilet.

Getting relegated hurt, and that day at Stockport was devastating, but this is the lowest we've been as a club and I see no plans to even try and reverse our fortunes.

If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor

That's exactly where I am too, at Altrincham last week I actually sat there with my lad and thought initially "what the fook am I even doing here" and secondly "imagine being that shit that even Altrincham are streets ahead of us and now laughing at us"... I used to look around at clubs like Scunthorpe and think how on earth are they just being allowed to drop through the leagues, well here we are its now our turn folks.

Tbf Bury's enjoy the ride and hang the consequences attitude was a moral anathema compared to how we have acted. Is the problem that from top to bottom we are too nice?

Have to say James that your description of bury's problems as "moral anathema" is spot on, compared with how and why we find ourselves where we are - and that's why i have no qualms about posting on "that" thread still

The vast majority of Daleys can and should hold their heads up, but what's gone is gone and i'm as buggered as anyone else if i can see a way back. I never give up hope - about anything - but that's all that's left

There’s a real sadness amongst or because of the lack of focus/apathy. The vast majority can indeed say they’ve done all they can.

There’s a consistent message throughout that Bury thread from most. There’s no pleasure gained from simple lessons not being remembered or learnt in the first place.

Hope remains though.

In agreement with Chaff. It was a struggle to even bother turning up today. Some hopeful moments in the first half when attacking, entertaining football made a rare recent appearance.

Then the usual drudge took over. The tactical naivety was scary. In poor conditions, we defended, as ever, with every man back, when the option of leaving Hayes or Sinclair (or both) up top to take advantage of a long clearance was never used. If you are looking at yourself tonight, Jim....

Think it was after the AGM that one of the directors expressed unhappiness with the pitch. His comments were very apt today, it was awful. Didn't Roger trumpet about how they'd got a deal whereby if the pitch was failing in a manner such as today, the company who laid it would come back and fix it? Or was that just the usual Roger self-aggrandizing BS to cover the deal he made? We'll see.

Crowd a bit lower, but given recent performances, it is no surprise. And, we're more than likely to be asked to pay more to have our Saturday's ruined next season. The old loyalty v blind loyalty question raises its head. On the gambling adverts, they say "when the fun stops, stop". The fun bit is the socialising with people who watch Dale, not the football. That can be arranged without a game to spoil the day.

I have echo Chaff.

I live away from Rochdale and have a young family so I cannot invest the time into travelling back and forth to watch Dale anymore. But it's not only that, I found myself today not the slightest bit interested in watching the game online or even how the result went. I knew we would get beat and it feels like it's been the same for about 5/6 years straight.

The pretty football isn't even pretty. Its shite. We let so many goals in and its been the same for years.

Jim clearly doesn't know how to change the game. He sticks with a 4-4-2 beginning until end, and it simply does not work. And for his post match interviews... they are just pure waffle. The other week he mentioned Man City had lost 3 in a row... do me a favour.

Possession with progression.

It's about much more than the on-field displays although I do think it's linked.

I can put up with being a conference side if you tell me we'll have a club for the next 10 years

The club has been mismanaged for years off the field and it's all led to us being where we are now.

The actual football is pretty much secondary to how the club is being run.

If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor
