Hey it was the Groundhog, not me, you'll have to ask them/they. For the record I am as clueless as a Labour voter at a Rochdale by-election.
Maybe it was
The club teetering on bankruptcy like a drunk on a tightrope, or the old club biting the dust thanks to a thrilling 9M share issue drama? Maybe it was Lee Anderson deciding to join a new cult, or Rochdale deciding Gaza was the new Paris for a city break with Gorgeous George. Or perhaps, just perhaps, it was the dawning realization that SG and JM are about as much the future of the Dale as I am the next Archbishop of Canterbury.
As my old DO once mused - and by mused, I mean said something once that wasn't a complaint - 'Good question, well presented, deserves an answer.' He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, it was mostly to ask if he could have an early stack on POETS day.
Cut the cord
On the topic of cutting the cord, let me put it this way: time is more on my side than wrinkles on my sack. In the parade of 19 managers I've seen come and go - some with the enthusiasm of a kid in a candy store, others with the joy of someone off to get a root canal - only 4 got headhunted. The rest? Sacked, with the ceremonial grace of a Politician tryin to defend their expense claim. I'll sit back, enjoy the spring, and wait for the new season like it's the next season of 'Succession' (no spoilers please).' New chairperson, new manager, new beginnings... And while everyone else is having a meltdown, I'll be there, making light of the situation, because if we can't laugh at ourselves, who can we laugh at? - Mia Mia, ready for the show).
