One would think reasonable people would allow for a 6 month transition period or longer to end schemes like this where recipients are partly or fully dependent on them. The brutality applied to the people of Gaza is now being applied to other areas. None of the recipients have a golf handicap or ever go to a golf course owned by Trump.
Some of these schemes mitigate against starvation and disease often partly caused by wars at least partly agitated by imperial powers. No more " soft power" from the USA. China to step in presumably or even worse Islamist charities. An orderly hand over would have been appreciated.
1100 kitchens shut. A state like USA can do better than this even if they feel justified.. Any reasonable manager would give a transition timescale to make alternative arrangements.
As outlined in the attached, the full congressional hearing is on line if you want to watch it, USAID has developed a number of faults including not vetting where money goes. USAID has been funding terrorism as stated under oath in the Congress.
I've no doubt Trump is taking a sledgehammer to hit but it has got way out of control. It is really interesting that the BBC has failed to include the findings of the congressional hearing.

This is rampant grand standing and politicking. You have to look at things holistically. This issue was a wart on the body that does not need euthanasia as a treatment .
Modern social media has turned everyone into Populists jumping on isolated failures as typical when it is not.
I saw on social media a clip of a Kiyiv night club cited as clear evidence of misappropriation of US aid. It was bollux.

You can listen to the whole 8 hours plus of the congressional hearing on YouTube. As I said I've no doubt Trump took a sledgehammer to USAID but anyone chucking money into a war zone without vetting the recipients needs their head read.
Did you see what some of that aid money was being spent on?
A transgender musical in Ireland Pro gay comic books in Peru Arabic Sesame Street Giving money to corrupt organisations has never helped anyone.
Trade deals and development is the way forward. Also why should they give their tax payers money away. To countries that hate them. Using Palestine is a weak argument as Palestine can afford to start a war. They should deal with the consequences. Attack a western nation and expect hand outs?

Some pruning might have been appropriate but not taking a chainsaw to the whole tree. Rhondda people like to talk about depravation but it is not comparable to areas with 1100 kitchens. Social media is a land of spin suggesting everything is out of control and illogical. Nass starvation is a driver for mass migration.
Look at things as a awhile not ludicrous unrepresentative examples used for negative purposes.. militant Islamists love buying loyalty with bread. Gaza is s a superb win win for them

I think this is the problem that Resolven mentioned earlier.
The Sesame Street thing is/was a child development programme for kids on warzones, that shared the Arabic translation for Sesame but was nothing to do with the TV programme.
Trump also mentioned something about transgender mice, that was actually cancer treatment research.
It obviously wasn't perfect but he's talking bollox.

As you say the truth probably lies between the two extremes that get presented.
USAID does excellent work with one or two questionable causes people have trouble understanding. " Somewhere in between" is perhaps misleading.
Many including USAID employees have testified on oath to confirm that money has gone into war zones with poor governance. Trump has shut down most it when what was needed was reform.
There is many hours of the hearing on YouTube , you'll hear arguments on both sides. Some strong, some weak and some bizarre.

I heard it somewhere that the biggest recipient of usaid was the Ukraine, they gave them billions and billions.
I don't know what Yankee government/organisation gives money to Israel but that would be billions and billions as well.
Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.

Most money goes onto war zones, both Democrats and Republicans now seem to accept that governance has been poor; there is lack of oversight with respect to where the money went or how it was spent.
There are 80 women from Afghanistan who have run away to Oman to try to continue studies.
Although they are desperate to come to the west and escape a harsh form of f Islam I would bet that not one would convert to any form of Christianity or even adopt atheism. This is the grip Islam had over it's followers. This grip might include fear.

No money in Oman to support these women? Journalist who does not think or is happy to present a point of view?

Yes Oman is a wealthy place. I have worked there and they are more advanced in women right that their neighbours.Arab nations ,will accept workers on restricted rights but not refugees it seems.
