Bernie Sanders 07:16 - Mar 17 with 1114 views | trampie | Did the elites do a number on Bernie Sanders in America ?, labelling him a communist and all that, just like Corbyn over here. Bernie had loads of support from young people, older people more susceptible to properganda it seems.

You come across as a very bitter person who is not happy for those who work very hard to reap the benefits. It's a fact of life that there are "haves" and "have nots" in most cases, not all, that people have worked hard for what they have and those with little haven't. The majority who say spread the wealth just want something for nothing. I say to them get of your backside and generate your own wealth.

Only a small percentage of 'poor' people are lazy, many have been dealt a bad hand via bad luck, illness, circumstance. I've worked hard all my life, but I'm not a self centred selfish person and don't begrudge people that have been dealt a bad hand getting a more reasonable amount of help from the state.

Without a doubt people with bad luck and illness should be helped, that's what the benifit system is for. If it wasn't abused by so many there would be more in the pot for those who really need it. The whole benifit system need to be overhauled but that is not a vote winner. Distribution of wealth is a completely different subject those who work more and earn more should not pay more tax to subsidise those who want to work less and earn less. Ask any employer how often they have been told I don't want to work any extra because it will affect my benefits. Surely if someone was able to earn more and possibly come of benefits that is what they should do, not go for the easy way out.

Tax fraud and tax avoidance is a much bigger problem than benefit fraud, the benefit system being manipulated is small incomparison to tax system being manipulated. The country is in such a state that people in full time employment earn so little that they are entitled to benefits which in effect means the taxpayer is subsidising companies making millions and even billions.

You are blinded by you prejudice. Tax avoidance is rampant with many on benifits, ever heard of cash in hand. Plus someone in full time employment next month, over the age of 21 will be earning £450 basic with out any extras, shift allowance, overtime ect and that's on the minimum wage. Give your head a wobble. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

What prejudice ?, tax evision costs the country far more than benefit fraud. There are more people looking for a job than there are job vacancies and a lot of the time salaries rarely meet current living costs.

Starmer is a full on right wing Tory, the benefits system been reformed would be good in theory but there should not be any cuts to the benefit system, taxes should be raised on those most able to pay before there are any cuts. [Post edited 17 Mar 13:39]

He's partly right though, the rich avoid much more in tax than the poor do and it runs into billions too views-voices.oxfam.org.uk/2023/01/how-super-rich-pay-lower-taxes-than-you/ economicshelp.org/blog/216160/economics/how-the-rich-avoid-paying-tax/ lse.ac.uk/research/research-for-the-world/economics/sophisticated-tax-evasion-by-the-super-rich equalitytrust.org.uk/news/press-release/uk-still-taxes-the-poorest-more-than-the-richest/ On the other hand, benefit fraud costs the Uk about 163 million. communities-ni.gov.uk/articles/benefit-fraud-cost-and-results#:~:text=Fraud%20costs-,The%20cost%20of%20benefit%20fraud,11%20million%20–%20State%20Pension%20Credit
