I can't believe It's that long ago, when I first saw him performing, I thought that was brilliant and It was.

Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick.

The stupid old chunts at the stupid BBC banned "Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll"

Would highly recommend the autobiographical documentary about him on BBC iPlayer, called ‘On My Life’, but it’s only up there until 21st April.

First saw him as Kilburn and the High Roads at The Kensington. That’ll bring back some memories for our older readers 😳

Strong and stable my arse.

On my third date with the future Mrs Hooparoo and she told me one of her favourite songs was “Wake up and make love to me” and I knew she was the girl for me ❤️

Saw him perform at The Forum in Kentish Town not long before he passed away. He didn’t look well. Played all the classics. The place was absolutely jumping. What a night that was.

Saw him live at the Kentish Town Forum in the early 90s.

Was blown away by just how good the Blockheads were. Phenomenal band, amazing live.

I later found out that Trevor Horn often called them in to Sarm Studios as session musicians.

Still listen to them to this day. I use Hit Me With Your Rythm Stick as a reference track every time I get a new set of headphones.

I saw the Blockheads about 5 years ago, his best mate now fronts the band, he’s very good.

Tithe Farm House for me. Saw them 2-3 times there IIRC.

The grass is always greener.

I used to go to the Kensington Sunday lunchtimes - Watney's beer though, ugh.
A bloke knocked my pint over one day. I said “what a waste, but I don't mind”

I watched this last weekend & really enjoyed the documentary. Like Punk, I could take or leave The Blockheads at the time, but I've come to really appreciate them.

They were all very different to the musical heros of my earlier days - Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Ray Davies, Carly Simon, Carol King (not when co writing with Gerry Goffin!) I've realised that there are many genres of music (even if I can't recognise the genre) that I can enjoy.

Ooh cheers I'll take a look at that.

Even as a very young kid going around in my mum's car with the radio locked on Capital (back when it was good) I remember hearing Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick and it was like nothing else, I was mesmerised by it. Still one of my favourite tunes.
