The Ashes - England to win ??? 19:55 - Nov 13 with 4607 viewsnumptydumpty

Know we have a few resident cricket boffins on here.

Am looking forward to the Ashes series, might be a bit bleary eyed going into work for a few months ahead. No change there, then.

Australias first test squad of 15 players - only one player under 30.

England

Batsmen

Duckett
Crawley
Pope
Bethell
Root
Brook
Jacks
Stokes [ar]

Smith [wk]

Bowlers

Stokes[ar]
Archer
Wood
Atkinson
Carse
Tongue
Potts

Bashir[sp]

Potentially the pace bowling options are the best we have had for many a year, but nearly all of them are very injury prone. Ben Williams - alert !!

The batsmen are all decent on their day, but many are inconsistent

Whether Australia going for experience as opposed to ourselves with a more balanced range of ages.

Think we need to hit the ground running and make the first blows then who knows.

A new stadium in Perth, then the delights of a day night game and a pink ball to boot - fair dinkum.

Three one victory, i think but for who, am not sure !!

Anyone here, got any input on the potential in games ahead and where we could do well or slip up.

Looking forward to this one.

Any b*ggers going ??

The Ashes - England to win ??? on 17:00 - Nov 14 by daveB

That was a long time ago thgough, we've done similar before and since and been hammered

Certainly the last series out there and possibly the one before, there was alot of criticism about being under prepared and acclimatised.

As I said, I hope you’re right. And with Wood’s hammy not being too bad and Hazelwood’s keeping him out of the 1st Test, Perth becomes massively important for England.

Selfishly, I just want the series to still be in the balance by Melbourne.

Well there you go. I remember the first one of those but no memory of the others. Probably coincides with the arrival of Netflix etc and many alternatives to free to air TV.

I was never much of a cricket fan when living in England and aside from taking a bit more interest when I had little choice after first moving here, have clearly paid little attention for quite a long time.

No problem SydneyR. As a Saffer who emigrated to Oz ten years ago, we don’t forget those wins

It's a real leap of faith to buy tickets for days four and five of a test match these days.

15 wickets down, thus far, on Day 1!
