'The overall story in Britain – as far as two decades of police, survey and hospital records can attest – is of violent crime in steady decline. And strange as it may sound to say it, the streets of these islands are perhaps safer now than they have ever been.'

Most focus is on London and in particular inner. London. I do not live there but most people think of black kids on bikes stealing phones off women.
While shocking and worrying for them it is not that serious as crime go..
I worked with n Lol ndon day and night on the railways for 5 Summers and never saw a crime it even anything like one. My view of London was it was safe and cleaner than I expected. 2012-2017. |  |

For any avoidance of doubt , this information is the one that counts , not some far away city ,the place where you live is the area thats important .
I've lived in the poorest possible roughest part of Swansea for 40 years and never until recently have I felt unsafe ,maybe due to the fact that for 35 years I felt impervious to attack but a recent incident involving myself and a 15 year old boy has made me realise I'm not superman anymore .The link doesn't involve my incident but a useful tool to help people take stock of what's happening around them ,often unnoticed.
Its often not the crime itself but the fear that it may happen is just as important .
