Though exactly the same thing. Would be strange to be interested in a player unless a) Jim is staying and interested in him or b) someone in house has been lined up already to take over from Jim and has started planning.

Agreed regarding stability and Jim also knows that his current bosses are not basket cases.
Regarding Cian.. Obviously would add some much needed pace to the squad.
There will be plenty of suitors for him but the upward curve we are on, added to such stable foundations will make Dale very attractive once again to players looking for a new club.
I also hear he very much enjoyed his last time with us even though his stay with the club was a short one. He would be a terrific signing. | | | |

Personally I don’t see this as strange timing. I don’t doubt that MKRT and the management team would have started discussing recruitment, and Cian was always a likely target if he was available. Not to make the move because McNulty has a non favourites shot at the Stockport job would seem odd to me. The recruitment process has already proven robust, so why would Jim’s situation cause a delay. We have 9 players already contracted who are forged by Jim’s style, and Cian would suit that.
To me the only reason the board would hold back is if they knew Jim was going and wanted to take the opportunity to start playing a different style, which is highly unlikely.
The bigger question is can we afford him. The thought of Hayes using he pace for most of the game and then being replaced by Rodney if he starts flagging is intriguing. | | | |

An X account has suggested that FGR have an interest in taking Rodney.. I have no idea if there is an iota of truth in it but.....? Is Savage a Rodney fan? Hayes for Rodney, on the face of it, looks a decent swap... |  | | |
