Wow is all I can say. We would be below midtable in non league on that showing. Not created a single moment, second to every ball, defended like a pub team and even the basics of creating two passes looks a mile away. Not one player played well. |
You’re right about the passing. Forget everything else for a moment, we are well below the standards when it comes to passing the ball to a blue shirt.
The same players who could keep the ball calmly in our own half last season now look to be struggling with ensuring that happens this time around. |  |

That central defensive partnership as a pair is not good enough. Sherring’s part in that second goal should see him taken off at half time. Twice could have dealt with the ball but didn’t.
We cannot play this formation with the players we have available.
Midfield two look lost because they have no passes on when they receive it, front players isolated. The injuries are a massive factor, but we can control how we set up. |

Going forward our wide players have had no impact. A couple of decent runs have from Bolongo have been our only highlights. The major problem is the size of the spaces. Both centre backs are not mobile enough to cover and the midfielders are too exposed. The 10 needs to drop back in to help a bit.

One of the most disappointing first 45 minutes I've seen in 55 years. Moreso when you consider it's our first game back in L2 and the team should be buzzing.
We have injured players but that performance was nowhere near acceptable.
Everything is too slow. The central defenders are both having a nightmare especially Sherring who looks out of his depth.
There is nothing coming from midfield whatsoever whilst we look sluggish all over the pitch.

Good analysis. The distances. Again. If either EEL or Sherring are playing, it has to be alongside someone who is quick. If both are playing it has to be in a back three.

Nobody showing any fight or desire. Irrespective of formations or players being injured you expect to see a bit of urgency and passion. The players need to take a long hard look at themselves after this because too many of them look like they're feeling sorry for themselves and sulking. That red card is on the manager too. Literally walked into that. The full ground berating Bilongo. Laughing at every mistake he’s making and plenty of them. Yet leaves him on and looks surprised at the outcome.
Shocking display from the players and the management team. Can’t over react but when a performance was needed to get everyone going and some more season ticket sales in the tank those on the fence if watching this will opt out. I can take defeat, we’ve had plenty of them. It’s the body language and effort levels which is a worry. Not a single player can come off saying they have won their duel. [Post edited 15 Aug 14:06]

A big response is needed next Saturday because this is miles away from where we should be. It's been a shambles throughout pre-season, what seems like a scatter gun approach to recruitment, a bizzare fixture schedule, players signed and injured after a couple of training sessions, players signed who aren't fit, players on honeymoon and not being available. The Board needs to ask the awkward questions...we have at least 10 players injured or simply not good enough, Rodney and EEL were not good enough the last time we played at this level, nothing has changed , TAR is not a defender, Maguire hasnt played a game yet. |  | | |

Having played a fair bit of football, despite if you buy into the managers ideology or not, you don’t play like today. It’s the most disjointed, could not give a flying effort I have ever seen. Individually they may have not even bothered showing up. I did not see more than two passes that connected all game. This hold on to the ball and dribble rubbish is not modern football. If you’re going to do that do it in the opposition box or at least in the final third. Many dale fans are half glass full and let’s take the positives, but I saw absolutely nothing in that and have not all pre season. I will always be grateful to have a club after what we went through and I, A million percent agree we will have challenging periods where we have to compete with the money clubs but today on opening game in a return to the league football as a disgrace. | | | |
