I'd be very happy with Dawson if it comes off, i can see why he might be interested in Stoke and Sunderland (settled midtable clubs) if they match our offer, but i can't see them doing that and the London factor should be a pull.
If a club with Euro football comes in, i'd be concerned though.
Carvalho on loan i can't see the issue - was a superb player and if he still is he'll provide a short term solution, if he's lost it he can sit on the bench and we can send him back to Real.
I think that we'll struggle until October when things will click (and fixtures get easier...) and we'll surge up to midtable safety. |

Agreed, i think probably 16/17 other prem clubs and a fair few from top European leagues might be interested in Micah Richards if he becomes available...
Plus i highly doubt the Dawson fee is that much, the press have touted figures from £3m to £10m and the truth will be somewhere in between, likely with at least half the fee made up of clauses (appearances etc). | | | |

AVB's man-management hasn't improved since his Chelsea days.
Last week I read Dawson would be captain. Then he's only captain until they find someone better....now he's being shipped out altogether.

Have to say, while I think Dawson would be an excellent signing depending on cost, this is no way to build a 'team'. We're collecting individuals here. Ricardo Carvalho - do me a favour.
I suppose this is a product of of Rigg only just arriving so we have to buy in the meantime until the results of that are seen. But as Neil said earlier this week De Canio worked with what he had for the first three months and did brilliantly with nothing at his disposal. If Onuoha, Ferdinand, Nelsen, Hill, Fabio, Bosingwa and Traore can’t be coached into some sort of reasonable back four then it’s a poor do.
Spurs are going to end this week with £11m+ in the bank and a clear path for Steven Caulker to move into the first team. They’re going to be rid of Bassong who is crap and Dawson who is injury prone and they’re going to have a future England international centre half in their team aged 21 with a year of Championship experience and a year of Premiership experience under his belt. They’ve also got Adebayor within their wage structure with Man City still paying him £90k a week.
Whatever you say about Levy, he knows what he’s doing! Do we?

I see three major clangers there. Levy seems to think that Ch. League football is a foregone conclusion and that any manager should be able to achieve it given a reasonable budget. Let him continue to labour under that misconception, I say, it suits our purposes!

We just need to bed in some experience, and look to feed in some youth prospects and pick up hungry players when available. I worry about the money we could be paying Spurs, but Dawson does possess leadership qualities and is a decent age to get a few more seasons from.
If throwing money on the SWPs, Carvalios, Zamoras etc is temporary plan, and in time we’re going to widen our scouting network, improve our youth system, and bed players in to the nucleus of players we already have that are a good age, it offers some comfort. If however, we continue to splash the cash on players who potentially no longer have the heart or interest, whilst shipping out players that do, or are at least are a good age, I worry.

We wouldn't be investing in Rigg, the new scouting network and the academy if this was our long term plan. i guess it's splash the cash and survive/build and then reap the rewards of a quality scouting network and good youngsters. SOunds like a good plan, as long as we can stay in the PL! |  |
