At the end of another season and with a cup appearance to enjoy, once more he dale youth team have done very well in the youth league.
Season on Season they are punching above their weight and finishing in the top four.
Congratulations to the backroom staff and all associated with this success - even more so this past 4 months when Beechy and Ellis are so busy with the first team squad - a brilliant result.

Whist finishing high in the league and getting to the final of a cup competition is to be applauded, the main purpose of the youth team is to produce players capable of stepping up and maintaining a place in the first team and/or be sold for a healthy profit. That's been lacking for quite a few years despite the relative success of the youth team.
First year pro's like Luke Watson and Sam Minihan haven't really featured this season (for whatever reason), but there are signs that a few of the current batch will be given opportunities under Hilly. Jamie Allen, Joel Logan & Callum Camps all seem highly rated. |  | | |

Agree with both posts. Excellent work by the players and staff...but for a club like ours to succeed in the long term we need to be converting these younglings into first teamers, then sell them for wads of cash!

Minihan and Watson haven't worked. Minihan might have the unenviable record of being the only player to win motm on his only appearance. Logan in particular though looks like a class act, hopefully he'll get a game at Oxford to show his potential |  | | |

Does anyone know the situation with Godwin Abadaki? Would Hill want to take a look at him or is the deal with Huddersfield final if they want him? There's a YouTube clip of him and he looks to have a bit of something about him. We would surely get some money from Huddersfield if the deal goes through? |  |

In Hilly's last interview on dale player he said that 4 members of the youth team will be integrated in to the first team squad. He also keeps mentioning how some youth players might even be in first team next season, So it looks like the youth team is starting to bear fruit.
Off topic, also in the interview I liked the part when he said its no longer a players market and players at the club who get offered a contract should feel lucky (as loads of decent players will be available at the end of season) the players should think long and hard before making a decision on thier dale future.
Saying all this, JK, Tutte, grimes, hendo won't find it difficult to find a new club, so don't know who it's aimed at or if its just scaremongering. |  | | |
