I find myself preferring to stay in on a Friday these days. Used to love pub life but now I m more of a home bird, You know couple of cans ,take away curry,good film etc etc. Pubs especially in town centres are not as busy as before it seems.

Nice I got some gammon hot from t oven in a sandwich with a bit of mustard and a bag o crisps and 4 cans of Red Stripe lager. Just about to embark on a WW2 flight sim on PC. War Thunder...beautiful game.

Pubs are quieter. Chain pubs with buying power are either peddling cheap poison or charging extortionate prices for a simple decent drink. The days of the local are over.

Don't necessarily agree with that. Bad pubs quiet, good locals (good landlord, ale, food) as busy as ever

Having a couple of glasses of Pouilly Fume and chilling trying to ignore CIN2013. Living so far out of town it is a big effort to bother, so have got used to enjoying the nights in. Twenty years ago I remember loving going over to the Isle of Wight for the weekend/week but even back then more and more people were staying in. The pub business as knew it is finished, you mention food which is the only way that a 'pub' can now survive which is ironic as that means its not really a pub.

It's mostly the sh*tty pubs that are closing down. Decent locals that are kept clean and with a good atmosphere and good beer are doing fine, whether they sell food or not.
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

There's no doubt the smoking ban has had an impact on pubs but if you want to look at the real reason these days you need to compare the price of grog in the pub to the price of grog in the supermarket.
