Burnley Match 15:33 - Aug 22 with 1183 viewsNinco

I know the midweek Burnley match was just a friendly, but why play it behind closed doors? Surely if they open the turnstiles, they would probably get around 1000 in based on the pre season friendlies, and the money those 1000 people spend on tickets, bar, programmes etc would at the very least pay for the extra staff needed and maybe even raise a small profit.

Might have played it at Gawthorpe Hall Training Ground?

Would also require stewards and possibly a police presence. Not worth the hassle.

Poll: What are you planning to do v Newport

Presume they do it to:

a) Avoid pitch usage
b) Avoid Police and stewarding costs
c) Avoid use of electric
d) Not allow just anyone to see what we're working on ahead of the weekend

Probably plus a load of other reasons.

No guarantee of anyone turning up and it would probably cost the club money in doing it. I've always assumed the LDV Paintpot Shield thing always costs clubs money to put on unless you do well in it.

If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor
