Phenomenal goalscorer yet never seemed to get the plaudits he really deserved

He and Reg Jenkins were my childhood heroes. A fantastic player who is often skipped over when the World Cup victory is discussed. A tremendous part of a great Liverpool team of the time.

Thanks for the memories Roger.

Roger Hunt, prolific goal scorer as he was, always played in the shadow of Ian St.John. Never a flamboyant player, Hunt just went on his merry way of sticking the ball in the net, helped in no small way by having two great wingers in Ian Callaghan and Peter Thompson, and two great halves in Gordon Milne and Tommy Smith. Part of the Bill Shankly dynasty, Roger Hunt will be remembered for his contribution of that great Liverpool team of the sixties.
