One of my all time favourite Dale players.
So prominent in the promotion team and then the side that surged to the top of Division Three the following season.
His knee injury severely disrupted the team which never seemed the same once he was forced into retirement.
I was fortunate enough to have a chat with him on Exiles Day in 2019 when Dale played Southend 50 years after winning promotion.
He was genuinely grateful and pleased for the fact that so many people had come up to him and thanked him for coming that day.
“It’s just nice to be remembered,” he said.
He certainly won’t be forgotten.
