It’s things like this that are driving supporters away from the game. There is no excuse whatsoever not to effectively communicate when a decision will be made on whether fans can pay on the day, and ensure this message is consistent so everyone knows where they stand.

One look at the Accrington chairman’s account indicates just how poor that lack of communication and effective focus on supporters by clubs is as he was answering the question last night.

But you know if it was raised everyone would blame someone else without admitting they need to do better.

To be fair 442 there was NEVER any doubt it wouldn't be pay on the day, bit ues its the lack of communication which is now normal,it's the exact reason I don't bother getting tickets for home game either when they say "All ticket" its very rare demand in the home end will get anywhere near outstripping supply, Newcastle and Spurs are the only 2 in recent years, compared to the amount of games we intially claim to be "all ticket"

It’s not whether it would or wouldn’t be pay on the day, it’s about clubs thinking about supporters first and foremost when they plan and communicate. This sort of thing has gone on for years and nothing changes because nobody wants to admit they could have done better.

To be fair to Accrington we have historically taken large followings to them even on a normal Saturday. They could reasonably expect us to sell out for a New Year Day fixture. What they didn't factor is was our poor recent form and our FA cup focus on Saturday. The former being a key factor. Their fans forum were predicting a season record crowd and I suspect we won't deliver that for them.
