Real shame. He was a fantastic footballer, one who’d probably be at a really big club by now if he hadn’t got injured. His performances playing LCB when Sheff U had that great initial season in the Premier League were actually impactful on a greater level as clubs realised players in a back three could also support the attack. The influence was seen at Dale, it was definitely something Stockdale was trying to achieve here.
If he’d stayed fit, he’s one of those players who would have been suited to international football because of his versatility. |  |
