Turnstiles on Thursday 11:38 - May 12 with 2028 viewsdingdangblue

Please could we have all the turnstiles open and working on Thursday night? A bigger than normal crowd really need to get into the stadium easier than the Spennymoor debacle. Night matches are more difficult to get to early for a lot of fans too - travel and work is a bigger issue than a Saturday game so just asking people to get there early is easier said than done.

The club will probably read this I am sure...

Spennymoor was an embarrassment.. Many could not get into the stadium early to spend hard earned money on a pie or a pint.

The club HAVE to speak to the stewards as well and ramp up the customer service when arriving.. Opening the turnstile in Pearl street (Police box side) involves shouting GET BACK GET BACK whilst the shutters are malleted off. Its all very amateurish. Just open the doors in plenty of time.

We missed a project 5000 penalty kick (with no keeper in goal!!!) V Spennymoor. It would be really frustrating to miss another just a few short weeks later.

Email from club to CAB members just now:

Regarding the turnstiles.

Our security and stewarding teams will be holding their briefing at an earlier time of 6pm.

This earlier time is to ensure the stewards are able to open all turnstiles at the published time of 6:45pm, but we expect them to be able to open them earlier to minimise queues. This will help reduce the issues of queuing that we saw at the Spennymoor game.

For this game we will have more scanners running than for the FA Trophy game.

Some of you may be aware that the scanners did fail in the Wilbutts Stand, this was due to the area being a O2 blackspot. We have replaced these scanners and moved onto the 3 network and tested all of them, which are all now in working order.

The exit gate to access the Smith Metals Stand will be open alongside the turnstiles with 2 members of staff, this will help speed up access if the automated turnstiles do start to run slow. In addition, we will also have some entrance lane barriers in place to help the flow of people into the stadium.

Ticket Sales.

The portacabin will be used for ticket collections (e.g. media passes) to remove queues from the Ticket Office sales area.

On the day, any away tickets that need to be collected can be done so from the Academy Office.

As requested by supporters we have allocated the Study Centre as a Prayer Room.

Segregation.

The end sections of Wilbutts Lane (Blocks T and N) will be covered with Dale flags as a segregation line with the front 5 lines of seats also being covered.

Away fans have been allocated 1,408 tickets, plus 55 that had been sold online before they took the bulk order.

We have got a Police Response Unit booked so they will be active and visible inside the stadium.

Food & Drink.

Scratch Catering will be running the BBQ outside of the Radcliffe like we have seen previously. The stewards have been fully briefed on this and will allow food from here to be taken into the stadium.

The kiosk and bar located under Block U in the Smith Metal stand will also be fully open for home fans.

In Wilbutts Lane both the kiosk and bar will be open for away fans.

General Information.

We are expecting a good turn-out. To date just over 3,000 tickets have been sold to home fans plus all boxes.

As per the Spennymoor game, Dale 1907 will be putting up flags at either end of Wilbutts, which will be the Hendo flag and the new Joey T. flag. There will also be flags across the inside back of Pearl Street.

All our hospitality areas (Main Stand) will be busy as over 60 have booked in already (80 capacity), of which 24 are being given to Away Directors.

The club shop will be open from 4pm.

“I hope sharing this planning gives some reassurance that where possible lessons have been acted upon. As we discussed we are still at the mercy of the old technology (until we change this at season end) but more staff numbers should help make this better than the poor Spennymoor experience"

Poll: What is it to be then?

Thanks for this post and the information contained in it. Lessons obviously learned from the Spennymoor game, that's all you can ask for. Well done the club.

This is brilliant, and an early sign that the CAB initiative will make a real difference, as expected

In this instance, CAB has been the conduit used to disseminate this information. Credit is due to the club, and I think there has been some Trust involvement.

If we didn't piss about with it at the back we wouldn't need a prayer room.
