no worries. I don't think Cifuentes was brilliant, but cannot underestimate his achievements with a poor squad. |

Really? Ainsworth had a 10 point lead over the bottom 3 when he took charge compared to Cifuentus taking over a side6points from safety. |

spot on. Celary was useless and Frey got injured. Having 2 good strikers helps and gives the team hope that they can turn a1 goal deficit into a win. |

i do recall that game was terrible and I seem to recall they had an outfield player in goal for much of the game. However, overall he had a decent record. |

Re your last paragraph. It was a minor footballing miracle that he not only kept QPR, but actually finished quite clear of the bottom 3 (especially the 1st season after taking over with QPR 6 points from safety). How short some fans' memories are. |

agreed. I know he spoilt the good feeling about him by speaking with WBA (via his agent), but it was obvious for weeks before, that things weren't right behind the scenes with Nourry. So I don't really blame him - and his actions cannot be compared with Beale. He blatantly lied to us all about his loyalty, Cifuentes was honest that he would stay only if he and the club were aligned in ambition and direction for the club. |

JS got his selection and formation wrong today. I expected more than 1 change of CB for this game along with a 3 man midfield and Poku in the starting line-up. He learnt nothing from the last 3 game week. This was not a game to play 442 given how Middlesbrough play. QPR made it far too easy for them and played a high line which they exploited time and time again. He should have made a tactical change in the 1st half and brought on Morgan or Hayden to shore up the midfield. At least a lot of the other results were favourable to QPR yesterday. Let's hope that he manages the festive schedule a lot better than these last two 3 game weeks. |

I saw that too. An absolute shocking way to treat football fans, but great way for FIFA to make a bit extra from each and every supporter prepared to even pay those ridiculous prices. There will also be dynamic pricing to sell tickets foe even more money. Glad I'm not going to go and watch the tournament. |

I'm hoping this is what will happen, but I suspect if there are not a lot of seats sold, they will just let in American fans in for hugely discounted prices or even free. I think that is what happened a few years ago at an African Cup of Nations tournament. |

 | Forum Reply | Saito slide at 17:50 10 Dec 2025
I think many fans overlook the defensive work that Saito, Smyth and Chair do when they play and only take note of goals scored and created. Those 3 help the side to win games through their work rate as much as their goal contributions. They stop a lot of the opponents attacks down the flanks. I'd rather Saito starting than Dembele or Vale and really haven't seen enough of Poku to know what he can do. |
 | Forum Reply | Are you Madsen? at 17:12 10 Dec 2025
I also think that Madsen spent a lot of time on the bench last winter and must have taken a long hard look at what he wasn't doing during games and learnt from it. Now, playing in a deeper role he is performing very well. |

I'd prefer if they just pushed Dunne up to the half way line and aimed the goal kick to his head for a flick on and cut out the scary short pass nonsense before the boot upfield with not much chance of winning the ball. I wish someone would ask Stephan about it in one of his pre or post match interviews. |

To think that this time last season he was being compared to Andre the friendly ghost Dozzell because he was the 6.4ft midfielder pulling out of challenges and afraid to head the ball. What a complete turnaround. Hats off to Madsen, who is now showing why he was signed on a reported 5 year deal. Credit also to Stephan for recognising that Madsen as a deep lying midfielder is able to read the game and deal with situations in matches better than he was in a more advanced role last season. |

I just noticed too. It is getting spooky. Glad to see that Clive has noted that unlike Shteeve, Stephan has rotated the team more, so hopefully they won't run out of steam in 2026. |
