swansea at home....match thread..

Just watched back the full 90 mins, with the Swansea comms team on it. A fascinating study in the human capacity for optimism and confirmation bias. I’d recommend it!

Really pleased for Kone on a human level. He clearly has been going through a difficult time and has had to endure a lot of unnecessarily cruel criticism. I don’t like it directed at any of our players.

Smart stuff from JS today. Making the absolute most of the players available to him in a formation that has really hurt a strong opposition.

The worry is that JS gets sick of it, he can't truly show what he can do, and goes elsewhere.

Clinical Blues deliver Rangers reality check – Report
at 09:52 19 Oct 2026

Thanks, Jamie. A really fair and un-catastrophic report.

Our spine underperformed for the first time. Charles, Dunne, Kamara, Kolli. Unfortunately, theirs didn't.

Side note, love Dunne, but never again should he shit-house like he did to try get their geezer sent off. Hope he's embarrassed.

Such a shame.

They should still wheel him into the dressing room, for a bit of Mad Ben Boosterism around games.

The team that spent the most.....

I agree.

We gifted them two goals. Make mistakes like that, we lose.

I’d left by the 3rd goal. So may have gifted them that too!

Edit: in response to SoCal’s post.

Alfie Lloyd - Well Done
at 12:15 15 Oct 2026

His touch to set-up Kolli's long-range effort was class.

I think he's had a rough time on here, particularly in some of the match reports. Like the playground, choose someone on the fringes for the cruellest gags. Still lots to do. But good to see him taking steps to prove folks wrong.

I'm not sure Brum have a great record at home.

Only won against ten-man Preston.

For the taking.

The Starting XI v Derby I think JS will select
at 15:09 13 Oct 2026

Derby are typical Championship Big Dog bully boys. We're gonna need height.
Expect Kemper and Adamson at the back.
Kamara and Madsen in midfield.
Lloyd up top, to bully them back, hopefully with Kolli. Want to see that combo.

That counter attack
at 12:30 11 Oct 2026

It was a little guile-less, but I get why he shot. Pleased to see him back, if he can keep up the hard work and improve his back-to-goal game, the way Burrell has, he'll become a much better player. Would like to see him with Lloyd on Wed, fitness permitting. The forum narrative often pits them against one another. I reckon there's a cracking combo there, respective strengths covering their respective weaknesses.

Julien Stéphan Interview
at 16:17 7 Oct 2026

I think he was positioning himself to allow some involvement on Fri from Rayan. He can't let the squad and us think that he's made an exception to his effort-demands just because there are injuries. He was saying that's nothing to do with it, it is all on the effort metric. So if Rayan does appear, he's pulled his finger out, and it's coherent. Narrative management, that's all.

Enjoyed the interview, thanks, Clive.

Whats it all about Alfie?
at 10:11 20 Sep 2026

I agree, the first chance he should have scored, and he'll know it.

Overall point on Alfie, he needs to score and soon, for his confidence. But I think there is a player in there. His natural strength and pace and disruptiveness, in one of the most physical leagues in the world, is a rare asset, and I suspect it's why JS is investing some patience in him.

An overall point on our imperfect knowledge as fans. The club knows our players so much better than we do, observing what they can do in training, etc, and sometimes they will know that players are much better than what they are showing in matches. It makes the club's perseverance with them baffling to fans, but it's why the club stuck with Adamson and Madsen, two players almost universally written off by the fanbase before they came good. Which is all to say, have some humility when piping up about players. We don't know enough.
