Carlisle lose. Forest Green lose. Hartlepool lose. Thought they were all going to walk the league with York/Dale gone

Well done back line (and a heap of luck/poor finishing)
Wind played a big factor today, clearances, throw ins all were going far shorter into the wind than with it. Ball for our second goal would have not reached in the first half.
Oldham bossed the first half with the wind.
Second half they struggled and Flint for me won everything into the box.
Liked Middleton, worked tirelessly both directions. Thought Gilmour had a good game also.
Not pretty, but pretty much needed 3 points. |

He had a very good debut.
Football-wise solid, no mistakes, lots of good work.
Leadership - very good. Wilson particularly appeared to be all ears, Ramming also on a couple of occasions too. |

So, a return to last season’s formation after one league game. Made sense and my personal view was that the new manager had tried to change too much too soon.
Even so, quite a lot of personnel change.
East in Rodney’s position
Brown in Barlow’s position
Francis in East’s position
New LCH and RCH and Keeper.
First half i thought we were getting battered on our right and goal came from there. We did well to get back into the game but naivity cost us.
Eels into Mani tap back to Gilmour and through ball to Brown looked on the cards. Gilmour instead ran into 3, lost the ball and they broke for the penalty straight from it.
That was one of the things i saw yesterday, Gilmour trying to do a bit too much occasionally. Fully understandable, same as with East, they are both wholehearted players who would run through treacle for the team.
We’ve gone from signing lots of wingers to being 5-2-3 formation which means the likes of S-D and Hannant bench warming for now.
Thought we played it out from the back better than Newport and thought Francis distribution was good. Brown showed glimpses of his ability.
No idea how long Beckwith and Maguire are out for, but hopefully not too long to aide the struggling back line. |

You could tell Eels felt bad for his mistake at FT, when players and managers took applause from the fans after FT, Eels trudged off alone down the tunnel after the briefest of time there.
L2 is faster and stronger than NL
L1 is faster and stronger than L2
The press by Bradford once they had got over the first 10 minutes was fearsome, not one, two , three players pressing, the whole team. Kinda what you should expect from s top 6 team on league 1 really.
We struggled numerous times to play out, heart in mouth moments, and ultimately the first goal after the under hit pass. Second half much the same.
They were simply too strong for us.
Onto positives
Keeper: Really good game - confident in this young man after the two cup games
Bilongo: Decent game at LB, the area most concerned over
Dubes: Created chances, two for example in second half where cut back from byline but nobody there
Other mainstay players from last season had decent games against tough opponents, one or two not so.
Thought their number 6 was awesome, he has signed from Stockport. |

Feel for both injured players tonight for different reasons.
Jenkins
Had a very good first half, assist for Hendo. Stretchered off is never good and hope is that this was a case of being ultra careful for the lad and not too long a lay off.
Beckwith
From pre-season it is obvious that the new manager sees Sam Beckwith as a LB and intends to play him there this season.
2 CH’s signed and Tutonga/Moss both played at CH. Sam never played their once throughout the whole pre-season.
Sam Beckwith is a fine young footballer but he is not (yet) a fine left back. He did do a job there in extra time at Wembley, his only other time there against Southend playoff semi-final.
He appeared frustrated tonight for me before his injury, and obviously when that happened too.
The LB position concerns me above anything else right now, lets see what Sat brings. |

Messi’s biggest influence last night was by trying to get Cucurelia sent off for covering his mouth and abusing him, hausery of the greatest order.
It is with the greatest pleasure that the dirtiest, cheatiest, favouritised, nastiest, horriblist team were shown that they were rubbish at football, failed to have a shot for 117 minutes, never had a shot on target at all, despite having the most talented player ever IMO.
No world cup
No golden boot
The world saw Argentina for what they are on the greatest stage. Couldn’t really have gone better. |

One hundred percent agree, exactly how i saw it.
Interview by chap with Tuchel, was like a dog with a bone trying to get Tuchel to say the team had a mental problem for the game. Tried 3 times to which Tuchel reponded ‘mentality, look at what just happened’
Then having said he wasn’t happy with the performance, he decided to throw that at Bellingham rather than throw his managers comments about team unity and mental fortitude at him.

Woohoo, Yorkies dispatched.
With their batting line up we needed 200+ and got there with change to spare. Aside from a bit of a lull when Liv and Hurst both got out it was pedal to the metal all the way.
Still, 216 is not scary when you have Lythe, Luxton, Root, Bairstow and Moeen Ali as a top 5.
Enter Mitch Stanley who bowled superbly. Lythe was being his disruptive self when Stanley got him out with one too quick for him. Luxton bowled and Bairstow bagged, he blew them apart.
Loudest moment was Jimmy getting Root, fantastic piece of cricket memorabilia.
Winning the toss certainly helped as Yorkies middle order showed, but finally a great win and still an outside chance of getting to the knockouts |

Watching Neymar beat his chest and mouth off ‘I am Neymar’ to the Norwiegan goalkeeper for a joke of a penalty made Haarland’s phrase stand out once more.
His second goal was a copy of Manny D’s second at Aldershot last season.

An outstanding player for England, who individually delivered some unforgettable moments. Under his Captaincy England went from awful to unbelievable.
Oh for those days. We’re now in as big a shambles as i can ever remember.
Stokes could have gone down the Root route and stood down as captain but still carry on playing. His pride however has stopped that option.
With Stokes gone, who is next captain? Brookes? Please god, no. Bethell? Please don’t make me laugh. Root? The only option for me.
What a mess. |
