Another great AFCON group game finished. Mozambique 3 Gabon 2. Very impressed with the Mozambique keeper Ernan Siluane, 27 years old and 27 international caps. 6ft 1. Confident control of his area. Good at collecting crosses. Great anticipation. Good shot-stopper. Decent distribution. Ticking all the goalkeepery boxes. So far played all his club football in Maputo. Conceded two today but Mozambique under the cosh for most of the second half as they defended their lead. Previous game kept a rampant Côte d'Ivoire down to just one goal. If any one at QPR is reading this, this scouting report is free. Next one includes a fee, add-ons and a percentage of any signing-on fee. |

If you managed 16 pages of that you are now ready for the next challenge. 145 (!) pages of the relegation thread on football’s most unfortunate web address … www.kumb.com |

West Ham, in the jaws of a relegation battle and with that massive six-pointer versus Forest the Tuesday before the Cup game, will almost certainly play a second string XI against us. I’ve looked at the names on the West Ham bench recently and have come up with this: Hermansen (25) Mayers (18) Golambeckis (18) Mavropanos (28) Julio (27) Kante (20) Earthy (21) Rodriguez (31) Irving (25) Fullkrug (32) Marshall (21) There’s only one name I know there, the old German forward and he’s currently not fit. The gulf between Premiership and Championship widens every season but still I’ve no idea if these West Ham squad players are any good. Btw: I am not at all suggesting we play a weakened side. We should go for it - hell for leather - an away win in the Cup in a London derby against old foes will be a day to remember and a massive confidence boost for everyone. |

Great news. Thought we’d fluffed it with the home defeat to Burnley. Bring it on. Tylon Smith hopefully back from AFCON for the knockout round too. |

Zim so unlucky there with their Maldon & Tiptree hotshot. So nearly pulled it off but two moments of class from Egypt’s two Premier League players was the difference. I’ve seen four of the five matches played so far and the football’s been fantastic and highly competitive especially for the first round of group games. If you missed it checkout Morocco’s second goal versus the coelacanths of Comoros last night … stunning! |

Everyone, West Ham included, keeps knocking the atmosphere at the stadium but the one time I saw a football match there it was great. Spain were playing Colombia in a friendly a couple of seasons ago. It was a sultry summer evening and there was a big crowd with plenty of Spanish and Colombian women walking around in tight football shirts and cut down denim shorts. Okay my next visit will be on a cold wet Sunday in January with a load of miserable bastards from West London but I’m still looking forward to it. |

Radek Cerny was in goal that night. Always thought he was decent. And yes I thought we were worth a raw that night. Off to the Box office today and taking a packed-lunch in case I happen to get stuck behind Clive while he’s buying his 117 tickets. I’m only getting a modest 10. |

It would be a terrible shame to travel halfway around the world to visit that shit-hole. Ps: Not my usual but you’d be better off at the Crown & Sceptre. Hoping you have a great stay and see an Rs triumph. [Post edited 19 Dec 11:01]

Fcuked by Virgins Barrington Bandersnatch III Ladyboird Books As the planet got back on its knees after the global pandemic of the early 2020’s, governments, corporations, companies, and football ticketing systems increasingly turned to technology and artificial intelligence to solve its problems. But who was behind the technology and the artificial intelligence. Fcuked by virgins is a jaw-dropping dysfunctional parable of our times. “Fcuking Hell!” The New York Review of Books. |

Absolute gentleman. When QPR on the field of play did their best to send you into paroxysms of despair, he always, through his community endeavours, made me proud to support my team. On a personal level he helped me out once with a friend’s charity. There are disabled kids in a remote part of India who were thrilled to receive and still proudly wear QPR shirts and training tops. Closer to home I know people involved with the Grenfell community and what Andy & QPR did was fantastic. Yes the celebrity games for Grenfell were well publicised - and that was the point - but from day one of the tragedy QPR were doing all they could to help and it was nothing to do with publicity. All the best for your retirement Andy Evans. [Post edited 18 Dec 22:27]

I seem to remember Copthall having decent facilities like an actual sports-centre ..ie showers and running hot water. The icy stream in the woods was somewhere more obscure like the arse-end of Arnos Grove. Tis a distant memory. |

I remember playing a Sunday morning game somewhere in North London like Barnet or Finchley and having to bathe in a stream in a wooded area afterwards … in November. |

I’ve got a programme for the Saturday game, a programme for the Thursday replay, and a signed glossy travel brochure of the Caribbean Cruise Spurs gifted referee Clive White for his good services. |

One of the few times I heard where’s your caravan? sang at Loftus Road was to Stephen Hunt of Reading. I’m glad he took it in good jest. One of those players I liked. Unusual for a ‘Fake’ |

Brighton won 5-2 away at Spurs last night so the 4th Round will be QPR v Brighton. Late January I’d expect. |
