Heavy rain forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday according to the forecast on my phone. Followed by temperatures of between -2 and -4 on Thursday and Friday.
I’ve just seen a photo of Gigg Lane on X - didn’t realise that one side of the ground is now called the “Arthur Ashworth Stand”. Surely it hasn’t been named after THE Arthur Ashworth?
Several of the younger end have mentioned recently that they would like to move from the Sandy next season and use the end block of the Pearl Street stand nearest to Willbutts Lane as a designated singing area. If this were to happen it begs the question as to where away supporters would be housed if the current policy of mothballing the Willbutts Stand were to continue? I hope no-one has the bright idea of turning the Sandy into the away end although it would have several matchday advantages from the club’s point of view. It would re-open a historic controversy though.
Were season ticket holders given the option of purchasing their usual seats before tickets went on general sale? There could be a few noses out joint if people turn up at ten to three to find the drummer and his mates already in their usual seats.
I have to say that the pricing is eminently sensible and could attract a lot of people desperate for a Saturday afternoon 3.00pm kickoff.
Talk about milking it…….Tamworth are charging £38 for a terrace ticket and £42 to sit down when they entertain Tottenham.
Unless I’ve got it wrong I’ve also just noticed that the Sandy is closed for next Saturday’s game against Stockton. Which part of the ground are people buying tickets for? Might be tempted to try the Main Stand personally.
From my point of view I won’t be buying a ticket for the Stockton game until I arrive at the ground given that the weather forecast shows heavy rain that morning. That forecast may well change of course.
Oldham v York is the evening kickoff on Boxing Day. All the teams in the top seven have to play each other before the end of the season. What Dale don’t want to see is the current top five pulling away leaving another half a dozen clubs including themselves scrapping for the last two playoff places.
Three to blame as I’m sure that the fourth official was consulted as well and was actually on the pitch at one stage. The ref was also listening quite intently to his earpiece as well. It was getting pretty hectic in the couple of minutes prior to that with some hefty challenges going in.
It’s been so protracted that I read this week that the caretaker at Burton had reached 79th in the list of long serving managers in the top four divisions.
