January transfer rumours

I tend to agree, and have liked Field this season. I wonder if it's because (as some have mentioned) he's on decently high wages? Does make me wonder about Hayden as well but I guess he might be harder to offload...

Team for Oxford?

A player playing non-league two years ago isn't the next Erling Haaland? Colour me surprised.

As fans we bang on and on about developing players, bringing them through, giving them time... Well this is what that looks like. If we want players to develop we have to let them do so, instead of slagging them off as soon as they don't immediately adapt.

Thoughts?

Know nothing about the lad, so can't comment other than the notes from Gab Sutton seem positive.

For some reason it sent my previous response a second time, so I've deleted it 😂

DMc and co. also say that Vale has a back problem, so hopefully that's why he's out rather than being sold / loaned anywhere.

I hope WLS are right and that this is nonsense. I'd rather see the season out with our existing player than spend money on another middling keeper.

Morrison going out on loan

Seems a bit harsh to me, has looked decent when he's played. I guess Stephan is not a fan and now that Edwards is back in, he might not have a spot.

Leaves us a bit thin at the back, though, doesn't it? Are we going to rely on Smith / Akindeleni if we get a couple of injuries?

Sell Jon Varane ?

I'm more keen on Varane than most I think and I agree with this. 5-6m is still good money, especially with a little sell-on to cover our bases in case he really kicks on.

Sell Jon Varane ?

I think he's a decent player for us with good potential. Seems a bit low on confidence lately and so is too timid with his passing, but also does hard defensive work.

£6m is a good price though. If they want to do this whole 'loan with an obligation to buy' thing at £5.2m, they can whack on an £800k loan fee and round it up nicely. Maybe a 5% sell-on to cover our bases a little?

Yeah I feel this too. I reckon he's not at his best (definitely too slow to make a pass) but the potential is there and he does a decent defensive job in midfield.

If the £5.2m is up front then I think it makes financial sense

It'd be an obligation to buy, so no chance to turn around and say no...

Did a quick google to have a look and two things popped up:

A) Bids in the summer seemed to be around the £5m mark, so this bid isn't that different, at least according to FLW, The72 etc.

B) Same article suggested we paid 875k for him, where Transfermarkt has it around €1.5m...

WLS reckons the offer is 5.2m. If we could get them to push to 6m I think we should probably take that...

The Shakespeare. I posted in a couple of local Facebook groups but couldn't find any R's fans and while I was an LFW reader I wasn't yet on the message board.

If I ever make it back (hopefully) I'll see if I can talk them into showing the games again

£4.5m is a lot for a player in a position that's was less of a priority (though I guess Morrison and JCS are out), but I have to say I'm pretty chuffed.

Having Edwards next to Dunne feels like a serious back line.

I imagine Kolli will be the starter but they'll be managing his fitness (like they completely failed to do with Burrell). Stephan said he was talking about subbing him off at the end of the Wednesday game because they were worried they'd injure him

I'm in Amsterdam, used to be in Montpellier. While in Montpellier I used to work in an English pub there which I commandeered to put on our games (roped in a few of the punters as honorary fans) which was always a laugh. Watching us batter Leeds there was a particular highlight.

Unfortunately haven't been able to make it back for games - I don't have a lot of money or time off which makes it difficult, and I only tend to get back to visit family around Xmas time. Tried to extend the trip this year to go to the Leicester game but couldn't make it work which was devastating as my brother went and enjoyed every second...
