Went to Como a couple of weekends ago with the Mrs for a football weekend. It was arranged by Mystery Awaydays who do a package trip including flights, hotels and match tickets (all easily done yourself if you want to). Anyway their USP is that you don't know where or who you are going to see until a week or so before. We completely lucked out and got lake Como in late September. Lovely. Anyway what a great place to go and watch football. Only a small stadium with 12k capacity just a 10 minute stroll around the lake from the old town centre and playing in blue and white. All very QPRish. They were playing Roma who were top of the league with Como being 5th. In the end the game was a bit dull and ended 0-0. Roma had a player sent off around 60th minute and then blocked with the lowest of low blocks. However the match day experience is slightly different from a day down the bush😄. It was an early kickoff on Sunday 12.30. Which then meant coffee and pastries in one of the many squares for breakfast. The square quickly filling up with Como fans and plenty of early beers. By 12.00 it was in full swing. Ultras, flags and fireworks. After the game it was lunch by the lake a few wines and a bit of shopping (to keep the Mrs happy). One thing Como do brilliantly is market themselves. There are four very high end clubs shops around the old town and some excellent merch. The Mrs even bought a Como tee shirt. Blue and white of course. Had a good chat with lots of fans who all new QPR in one way or another. Finally I did note that on the flight out around half the passengers were groups of lads heading to Milan for a match. I know Mel does a lot of this but I didn't realise how much of a thing it is. So as we all know seeing Rangers in Europe may not happen again in my life time🙁 but do round up a few friends and jump on a random flight some where and have a laugh and Como is a good a place as any. My daughter was out at a Freshers week club night last week. Her and her friends get chatting to some lads. The "what do you do" topic comes up. The lad says he plays football but he doubts she would have heard of the team (on basis the she just a girl) Who do you play for she says, QPR is the answer. Why do you think I wouldn't have heard of them (on the basis that she's just.girl)??? She proceeds to show him a picture of her and her brother aged about 5 and 2 in full QPR kit and states she's been a supporter all her life. She topped it off with the comment "and I've got a seat in the upper loft with my fukcing name on it". Laddo didn't know what to say 🤣🤣 [Post edited 24 Sep 12:51]

The next time you're spending an afternoon in a pub in Old Street with an ex Rangers player do let me know and I'll join you. Purely for research purposes you understand.😉 |

There is a management technique called "the 5 whys?". Basically if you come up against a problem you asked why, when you get the answer you asked why ect. So if someone says you can't do this because....ask why. That will say something like it's against policy, so again ask why. Do this five times and you will either get the the core of the problem, or end up someone saying I don't know. Either way it's a brilliant way to wind the other fcuker up. |

I'm planning to go to this game. First away.for a while as my daughter now lives in Sheffield having gone to Uni there and decided to stay. Any suggestions for pre match pub around the ground rather then the city centre as she lives near Hillsborough? |

Do tell me more about the side hustle pub tours as that was something I was definitely looking at but not sure how to start. |

I get that, that's why I want to work part time for a few years. However I have really had enough of the city rat race and dealing with red braces tossers all day |

Hi all, I am planning to stop full time work in the next couple of months and I'm looking for some ideas of what part time work may be available in and around central / north London. I have had a long and varied career in FMCG and Financial services supply chain up to director level. However I am not looking to continue that type of work and I'm looking for a complete gear shift. An example being working as a tour guide which is something I'm already looking in to. I am sure there are some interesting things out there that I'm just not aware of. Love to hear any suggestions that I can look into or even better if you know of any specific opportunities do let me know either below or DM. |

Back at the start of COVID (Feb 2020) my then 10 year old son was stuck at home with very little input from his primary school. We asked him if he would like to do some extra subjects just to keep him occupied. He loves Manga books and cartoons so asked if he could learn Japanese. We found an online tutor and he has been doing an hour a week since. His first tutor was a grad student who he was with for four years. She is now living full time in Japan so we had to find another. Second tutor suggested he was good enough to sit a GCSE which was a surprise to me! Anyway turns out second tutor was a bit rubbish and didn't really understand the GCSE syllabus so we got a third tutor a couple of months ago who was more up to speed. We soon realised that the exam was going to be much harder than we expected and there were huge bits of the course he had never covered. Anyway after a couple of weeks of hard swatting he went ahead with the exam (mainly because we had paid for it). He was the only western heritage child sitting the exam. The exam was four different papers including spoken q&a. He didn't think he did that well and was hopeful he may scrape a 3. Yesterday he got his result. He got a 6!! I promised him that if he got better than a 5 I would take him out for the "best burger in London"..so we're out Saturday |

Guy in the pub (Tottenham fan) has backed palace to win the cup at the quarter final stage, £60 at 10/1, this morning he has backed Eze £50 at 10/1 for the first goal scorer and also backed Eze to score 2 or more £10 at 30/1. So he's £500 up so far. |

My son has just taken part in an "experiment" to see how he gets on with no smart phone for a month. It's being published in the weeks Sunday Times and is cover story in the colour supplement. For him and us, the biggest issue was no access to what's app. As Clive mentions all various arrangements are through it so if he's not connected then he misses stuff. Also most school work is now issued via Google classroom so he needed special dispensation to have homework emailed to us. Anyway he's not much of social media user so that was not a big issue. So players going on tiktoc, X, Facebook and Instagram with a public account do open themselves up to hideous trolls but you can keep those platforms private or not use them. No huge loss really. |

Well we did it. Total time was 12 hrs 30 minutes. That was truly hard. However the comradeship of everyone saw us through. My feet hurt and my knees are killing me but it was all worth it to raise over £20k both in memory of Joyce and to continue the fight against Pancreatic Cancer. Thank you to those who came down to support us. With out your continued backing, cheering and beers it would have been a whole lot harder. And a final thank you to my wife Lucy who stood by me (literally) over the last 10km when my knees were absolute agony. I wouldn't have got over the line without you. Here's to Joyce. P.s. you can still sponsor us on the link above. |

I would also like to thank RangersW12 and Kensal Ranger for your donations. The weather looks a bit dodgy so I may have to invest in some flippers. |
