Jimmy Dunne - growing into the role very well, and showing good maturity in the face of tricky circumstances. A definite plus this season |

I wouldn't say that today's offering was worthy of the old favourite 'it's all falling to pieces' being wheeled out. Given the injury list, JS's hand was forced and it so happens that two of the players who were starting for the first time made mistakes which let Sheff Utd in twice. Wouldn't say that it was a 'club's falling to pieces' afternoon though. |

'Laughter in the rain' my favourite. But as stated, a great songwriter. Always thought quite a few of his songs were quite short - he could have milked them a lot more ... |

Quite a fair reflection, I'd say. A couple of lapses first half and thereafter a mountain to climb. Felt really sorry for Jimmy Dunne. He is giving 100% to the cause and leading the team well but something is going wrong alongside him every game it seems. Mbengue, when he came on was good. Also, Vale second half at left back much better than Esquerdinha, who, I'm afraid, doesn't have the bit between his teeth as yet. Vale at LB next time RND cannot play please. Agree with you, could be more of the same next Sunday. Especially if we don't score in the first 25 minutes or so. [Post edited 28 Feb 18:25]

I don't agree with all of this. Our owners/Board have made it quite clear that they are going to try to develop the club from the bottom up rather than buying multi-million pound players like Birmingham. I think, given the club's financial situation, they have bought quite reasonably and Nourry is trying hard to bring in players who will come through. You can't blame him of not trying to get young players who will potentially make it. I do agree that we have struggled to crack what is needed at first team level for continued success but I don't agree with some of the comments about the club strategy. |

Was thinking about this at work but didn't make any progress After a 5-0 defeat you'd normally drop a few players, but not so sure that's an option with so many out. I'm not so sure Sheff Utd is the game to chuck in the Devt Squad players who have been on the bench. Plus with RND not being able to play we are already going to be risking LB. I'm really hoping that Saito re-emerges from his fallow period but I am not confident. Think I'd be tempted to start Morgan and Varane in midfield purely for more energy than Hayden Walsh Mbengue Esquerdinha Varane Dunne Edwards Vale Morgan Saito Kone Kolli Subs: Nardi, Adamson, JCS, Smith, Alemaheyu, Bennie, Hayden, Pearman |

Very good report which has opened my eyes to the scale of the task in hand. This paragraph alone rings alarm bells without all the issues of our own making. 'As Julien Stéphan sought to wrestle back some semblance of control in this game he reached for Kealey Adamson, Daniel Bennie, Kieran Morgan and Jonathan Varane. Opposite number Tonda Eckert brought on Shea Charles (£10m), Samuel Edozie (£6m), Ross Stewart (£8m), Tom Fellows (£8m) and Cameron Archer (£15m)' And this situation is only going to become more frequent in seasons to come So I'm going to draw a line under it and keep the faith for this Saturday. It's going to be a really hard game - Wilder is going to be at his most bloodthirsty after last night. [Post edited 26 Feb 13:56]

We were far too deep from the outset. Why not start high from the kick-off, and then retreat if you have to because it is breaking down ? Not immediately go deep making it so much easier for them and start playing football when we are one down. Disappointing tactics. But not for the first time. |
 | Forum Reply | Constant Calls for Changing Managers ad Infinitum at 13:19 25 Feb 2026
What's the point of keeping a manager if he's not a good fit ? My own view is that he doesn't get the players to galvanise into playing good football on a consistent enough basis and that he isn't very good at taking the bull by the horns and setting us up to get on top in games. I'm not seeing that he's formatting us to do better than dour 0-0's away from home and giving it a go at home but often being found out. I believe there are much more innovative, inspirational managers out there who would be better for us. |

It's not impressive. Only in his pre-match interview was he talking about the importance of consistency. It makes a mockery of that interview. He says that it's his responsibility. I know that is standard manager speak after a heavy loss but he needs to be more specific and actually say that we were not strong and cohesive enough as a team and to hint at what he is going to do to remedy it. When you lose 5-0 and could have lost by more you kind of need to tell things for what they are. |

Walsh doesn't look instinctive to me. It all looks like it's programmed. Nardi was much more on it. He goes with the game. |

I would question whether a huge number of our players have got it in them to do three games a week regularly. You can have all the sports science in the world but if a player doesn't have the physical or mental strength then I would say that it's at the hands of the due diligence team. |

Zut alors, I hope his backroom team have got their fingers on the pulse.... |

We need players that can do three games a week, it's as simple as that. The majority of our players are not up to it. You can count on one finger the number of our players who are up to it - Jimmy Dunne. No-one else in the club has proved themselves at being able to do it. Where do we find such players ? I have seen that quite a few of the clubs in the Championship have a large contingent of Scandinavian players - Blackburn, Southampton etc Is that where we need to be looking ? I don't think the result would have been any different with Sam Field in the team tonight, but he is better than Hayden. I do know that. |
