As my fellow Saints fans take on the enormity of these revelations -and Stupidgate featuring Johnny English and Austin Powers -continues to play out, I should like to remind everyone that football is for the fans, and we need levity and gallows humour more than ever.
I keep seeing Hugh Bonneville's face as head of that panel, and if Nick doesn't mind I will make assimilation with that great spaghetti western The Good (Bournemouth and Hull) The Bad (Boro and Gibson) and the Ugly (Saints of course*).

Whilst the outcome thus far is farcical and disproportionate -which I always feared it would be -Saints have to act very quickly in re -engaging the fanbase, players and sponsors.
That this EFL panel have fast tracked Boro into that final is tawdry and smacks of penny pinching and pandering to another vested interest. We Saints fans feel ashamed by proxy, though we are the ones that have suffered unnecessarily by this crass stupidity. We 9the fans) are not guilty. So Southampton FC need to properly reach out to the Saints community asap, now that some harsh facts are in the public domain. Collectively, we (fans) are bigger than any club or authority who need to realise they are our servants and not the other way round. |

They are surrounding the ref, putting him in a chokehold to force watch their swallow dives that apparently imitate ours, then feigning head injuries complete with tomato sauce, naughty nurses, bandages and fake guns with a 'bang' flag. I'd already heard (from Northern sources) that this sorry enterprise (run by entrepreneurs /football club owners) have just let go of Leeds (now they're distracted by us) after they dared to send them down to the Championship last time in an end of season football game. Sounds familiar eh? |

On the latter two, I don't usually favour a double sub of forwards especially when the top two are doing alright -maybe one if tiring or injured, but I won't complain if they're both in the mix for Watford etc. |

Appears the club have been fostering the ongoing (good?) relations between these two clubs.
I understood that most Stoke City fans paid £30 for tickets at St Marys, and that the two fan groups were agreed and trying to recommend adherence to this policy for both the derby games? This has nothing to do with the transport costs which are a separate issue and understandably unique. Although this has set a precedent and we haven't heard our clubs plan for this, although they don't seem slow to capitalise these days. I'm also curious as to why Pompey need a pick up point from Winchester?
We'll await comments from the club with baited breath but I would be more interested in other fans thoughts on this too. |

The question is not about Mr Nice Guy, but surely his value to the club, and for too long now JS has become a metaphor for failure and the polar positions in this argument.
Even his diminishing number of 'defenders' are merely putting up a case for club captain but never team captain surely? There used to be a difference. All self respecting Saints fans want JS to play out of his skin, but most know this has only happened occasionally. That's a lot to change isn't it? Some of the most successful Saints teams of the past have had Captain material parachuted in over longstanding Saints players -Rodrigues and Ball for kick off and many more since. Experience should not be measured solely by failure and this is a team that needs to breathe again. I hope we are proved wrong but there are too many of us poised to say I told you so. |

A competent goalkeeper makes all the difference, but knowing Saints luck?

This didn't even come close to the usual pre season friendly with a just adequate first team and a team of hopefuls pushing for a place. Hope it's early days, and the players that have been signed to play for us -rather than the sister clubs -come in and improve the team immeasurably. The fans do clearly want to see that happening before Newcastle and Forest. We attend these games to see the new additions and get some clarity. Early days?
It already looks like we're going to be learning on the job again -which is a far from satisfactory plan. |

The suggestion that Rupert Lowe enabled -even built singlehandedly -the St Mary's Stadium really sticks in my craw and demeans the efforts of so many other people in Saints history.
