So having just read Clive’s stirring report on our PNE match and the valid point that not all ‘wins’ will result in three points. That said, in the cold light of day, it is probably 2 points dropped based on current for. So having accrued 10 points out of the first 12, we have only take 3 from the last 12. We are now right on the brink of- still in the play-off picture, but potentially one loss from 11th or 12th. Personally happy enough just to be in the mix, but clearly some much tougher games the far side of the International break.
Not wishing to turn this into another injuries (or God forbid, Kolli) thread, just wondering what is everyone’s general take of the first 8 games? |

But would he have been in that position at all? Last season before his injury, most of Burrell’s goals were simple tap-ins. This year bar the first against Cardiff, he doesn’t seem to taking up those predatory positions. I presume this is because he was playing ‘beyond’ Kone last season, but this year is the lone striker? Whatever the reason, we are missing his potency inside the six yard box |

Didn’t get to see the game, but just watched the highlights. Both of our goals conceded preventable and our first also savable, but our first ‘worldie’ of the season from Smythy - super strike.
2 Things jumped out at me. 1 We are too nice. The Preston players got Cirkin sent off as much as the tackle did. It was ‘orange’ if the players hadn’t surrounded the ref, and could have gone either way. We never do that, just accept everything so meekly.
2 My heart goes out to Lloyd, should have scored the header obvs, but the save from the keeper was outstanding for his other effort and a lovely bit of skill gave him the chance to shoot Just needs one to go in off his arse and he will score plenty, with his positional sense, speed and work-rate. I did mention Kenny's ability in the oppo profile. Used to play against my son at 13 /14 and was vlearly operating on a different level even then. Was hoping we would take him from Sligo Rovers instead of Celtic. His dad was decent too played for Rovers for years and made Mick McCarthys training squad a couple of times |

This is not necessarily me starting one (my record is ‘patchy’ to say the least), but I can’t see one. For the record, I think we’ll scrape a 1-0 win in a low quality game. |

Yeah I think that’s a fair definition on the pitch. Doing ridiculously difficult things effortlessly, like Adel’s pass with the outside of his boot to Rutledge and Wegerlie waltzing through the entire Leeds defence. To be a Maverick you have to be that flair player but a bit ‘different’ off the pitch. So I think we have a couple of potential flair players but no mavericks at the club. |

This exactly and I have said something similar on previous posts. His two goals against Cardiff were of high quality and then he picked up a serious injury. Maybe the Championship was too much for him, may he just needed longer to adjust like Madsen, we’ll never know. Main thing he is happy and scoring goals |

No you are missing the point. The last five games that you dismiss as irrelevant are a clear indication that he had already lost the plot with his ridiculous ‘tactics’. Indeed if I recall correctly the last game he won was a very fortuitous 2-1 win over a very poor Wigan side. If we had won his final games he probably would have stayed, but instead prostituted himself to Rangers while still contracted to us. An odious toad of a man who would have undoubtedly relegated us if he had stayed for the season |

Well I never thought I would see Beale defended by a QPR fan. Beale baled at the first possible opportunity, he had zero affinity with the club and even denied he was here. Ainsworth bled blue and white hoops and despite his poor managerial record here he will always be a club legend and more importantly welcomed back any time. Beale’s inability to manage is matched only by his arrogance and he has been properly found out by Rangers and Sunderland and indeed by us. Despite our flying start , the writing was well and truly on the wall which makes those last 5 games very relevant indeed. He was poncing about with ‘tactics which were completely unworkable and the players quickly realised that, hence the fall off in form. Also he is about as welcome at Loftus Road as a new strain of covid.
Comparing JS to GA is also unfair, as there is more to JS than hard work. But hard work should always be the base line, as it should be for any job. But JS enjoys flair players it’s just the ones we have, not just Kolli , Vale, Saito, Poku have not yet stepped up. |

It’s unfortunate timing in the sense you can be sure Ewell will absolutely park the proverbial as he knows it will be his only game in charge. As we have been pretty toothless in attack lately it could be a bit of a slog. Still expect to win, but maybe not giving our GD the tonic I was hoping for. |
