What's everyone's thoughts on what we need to add to the squad after two competitive games then?
Firstly, i feel we definitely need a holding midfielder who's got some height and strength because at the moment we really aren't competitive enough (physically) with a midfield of Allen,Cannon and Mcdermott/Camps. Teams will quickly pick up on this lack of height and power in the midfield and it'll become a bigger problem. Secondly, a proper left back is a must as Mcnulty (despite playing well last night) will get found out there and goals will be conceded due to his obvious lack of pace... every through ball either on the outside of him or in between him and Canavan looks a threat every time as proven by Peterborough's first goal. Finally and the most obvious one is we definitely need another CB to add cover or push for a starting place. Thoughts? |

I'm disappointing in myself to be saying this about a professional footballer but he looks tired and like he's just finished a marathon every time he's running for the ball. If i was in Hills shoes then i'd give him a rest for the next few weeks along with Cannon and swap them both with McDermott and Bennett and get them properly fit and not so sluggish for the tough Christmas period! Also just a quick mention i think its maybe time to utilise NML upfront as he surely can't be any worse than the options at the moment and with his electrifying pace he adds something different to the team |

For the first time ever i'm not looking forward to this derby, more scared as to what the final result could be due to the defensive side of things in recent games. However this is a mini downturn in a good season (so far) and the perfect way to get out of it would be a win against the local rivals!
For me i'd go back to the system which worked well last season.. counter attacking with Hendo and Done except use Mendez-Laing who is perfect for the role IMO.. big built so won't get bullied around and will win a few headers and has electric pace. This guy can win games on his own when his on top form and we've seen glimpses of this in the two games hes featured for more than a cameo appearance. For me try and set out tough to be beaten against Bury and try and catch them on the counter attack!

I'f i am correct on the way it all works with transfers before a bid is officially made there is contact between both clubs as to whether the player is available for transfer no? So due to the fact Barnsley have bid at least once if not twice as is rumoured then it suggests that Rochdale are saying hendo is sellable... Looking bad to me.
replacement: Windass at Accrington had a strong season last year and i've heard about him a few times and after seeing him on tuesday i can see why he's building up a reputation. Cheeky bid using the money from Done and hendo sale and hopefully we could sign him, could be aiming higher than us though. [Post edited 30 Jul 2015 14:26]

To say we'll finish at the worst this season 9th and we've heavily experimented with Youngsters i'm very optimistic for next season. My gut feeling is that teams will come calling for Bennett and Hendo but if we ward off the interest and secure them for another season i genuinely feel we could once again chase a play-off position. The main thing is that the youngsters will of learnt a lot this year and next year will be better off from this. If we get the same back 4/5 each week for most of the season i think this will cut out the silly errors that have started to creep into our game e.g. yesterday Cannon not clearing the ball for the first goal. I'd probably be in the market for another keeper, hopefully Logan, also i'd be after another striker who can offer something a little bit different but decent strikers come at a cost which we don't necessarily have. Onwards and upwards next year with Joel Logan featuring much more out wide as he looks a good prospect!
Edit: oh and also i think that this Jones fella in net offers absolutely nothing. Got beat at his front post twice yesterday more so the 3rd one rather than the 2nd. Don't understand why we're spending a wage on him when we have Lillis who is just as good if not better. [Post edited 26 Apr 2015 14:27]

1)In the first half Felipe Morais made no attempt to track back and get stuck in and tackle Bastien Hery. Second half Morais went off and Clarke came on and clearly under strict instruction to get tight to Hery and this meant the team as a whole were much less efficient.
2)Logan is rushing his distribution, and although many will argue that this is to encourage counter attacks with Hendo and Done upfront, yesterday all it actually did was help Bradfords centre half win the ball in the air and gain possession again.
3)Its clear hill likes to have a tall winger on the pitch, but for me I don't agree with Bennett out wide, We already have Vincenti on the wing to win headers from goalkicks so he's not really needed purely for his height. I'd rather see Done outwide with Fenelon starting alongside Henderson upfront.
4)My last point is just stating the obvious but Donnelly genuinely is a miracle worker, Can't hit a barn door but earning a decent wage at a League One club. |

now the inevitable has been confirmed and Hogan has left the club, where do we all believe we will finish next season? In all honesty i'm quite worried about the lack of a defensive midfielder and a decent striker in the squad.. early days and im sure Hill will be in over drive trying to get some more players in. i'm predicting bottom half of the table finish and then hopefully to push on the season after. |
