Couldn't make it but absolutely delighted with the win and sounds like progress is being made. Seen some great content being shared online too.
My only non-football related criticism is can we stop getting the Dale flag the wrong way round in the Pearl Street. Happened v Scunthorpe and again yesterday. Seems like a minor but it's just a bit of a silly own goal when we're trying to build an atmosphere. |

The whole thing has been a mess from start to finish. The ownership need to recognise that and make changes fast.
We came back from summer and went on a pre season trip with barely 11 players. We did half of pre season without a signed goalkeeper and we've been playing catch up ever since.
Injuries or not Watson had a capable squad there as well clearly saw on Tuesday that again elected to not give us much of anything yesterday. In 5 games how many attempts at goal have we actually seen? Bar a cross into the box I don't recall us having a dig at anything and that's not the first time I've said that this season.
I'm sick of managers coming in with word salad and pretending football is a science. This is a simple game being made overly difficult.
Mani needs to get more involved or he needs replacing. He was playing against part timers last season and currently looks like he's running through treacle.
Ramming needs dropping immediately. Clearly not capable and the wrong signing at the wrong time. We've been crying out for an established number 1 for years and we elect to give an untested goalie his work experience.
What a way to burst the bubble on what was an outstanding season last year. I can take the early losses but it's the complete lack of any urgency or thought that's making it tough to swallow, and I think the players are now starting to show their frustration too.
He has 1 more game I think to turn it around, otherwise we look elsewhere and hope for a new manager bounce before we get embarrassed by the Biffos. |

Before tonight I'd have taken a point but delighted with 3. Still plenty to work on but we saw the start of what this team wants to achieve. Adeeko fantastic. Taylor and SD a nightmare down the flank. And Smith showed us exactly what he's capable of. Second half I do think Shrewsbury could have scored at least once before we killed it off but overall a great performance to announce ourselves back in the EFL. Let's build on this now |

Ramming - not the commanding presence we need.
Sherring - arguably one of the worst home debuts I've ever seen. Set the tone from his first touch
Gilmour and to a lesser degree East - starting to look out of their depth
Mani D - needs to get more involved or we find a system that works without him. I was critical of him for this last season. He's great when on the ball but won't even challenge for something 2 yards away
The football overall was awful. It looks disjointed and the players don't seem convinced themselves at the moment. We're not creating any chances for a supposedly progressive manager.
The one saving grace is the subs looked decent and I expect to see more of them. But I'll get frustrated if we hear more about them needing to bed in. We'll quickly be over the first month and we need to start picking up points quickly otherwise this will turn very toxic. |

It's noticeable on Fanbase that only half of U Block has sold as of right now. I expect that to be packed tomorrow.
Project 5000 becomes so much more achievable if we can break that 4k marker regularly. It's an easy win for club marketing that can build hype in the run up to games.
Given the sales I'm buzzing myself now for tomorrow a lot more than I was at the start of the week and I'm sure many others are as well. It feels so good to be home |

Regardless of how many are U14 or not this is a real positive step. We've had initiatives in the past that have been tried and failed (I seem to remember one a few years ago where the season ticket got cheaper the more we sold? Don't think that took off as well as hoped)
You've got to time these with on the pitch progress too as I can't imagine we've have sold 3300 for our first season in NL..
It'll be the U14s pushing their parents to keep taking them to the games and I think every fan has a responsibility to make sure these are great match days out. Backing the team, being loud and proud and hopefully some good football too.
I'd be buzzing with 4000 (home fans) on Saturday, and I expect us to have a couple of sellouts for bigger league games this year, which was something only reserved for a big cup game in years gone by. |

I'm not sure at what point everyone decided we needed to start panicking.
If every year the first result of the season decided our league fate then we'd be languishing somewhere in the North West Counties at this point.
Performance was woeful but the manager will know that more than anyone, and I'm pretty sure the consensus pre-season was that we would build into the season.
I expect more on Saturday and I think we'll get it. |

Strong rumours that the chairman's getting too involved in player signings and trying to influence team selections also - similar ones were around when the previous manager was in charge which led to his premature exit too |

Give it less than 3 years before Uggla tries to install himself as manager.
We are so so lucky with the Ogden's and no matter how much money the Uggla's try to chuck at York I'd rather be us every day of the week. |

Was starting to get quite nervous about the lack of signings but 2 in 1 day definitely allay those fears for now.
It seems that we've now got 3 keepers in Spain? Waller and Spaven looking for contracts so will be interested to see how that dynamic plays out in the short term.
A couple more attacking options and I think we'll be alright until we know more about how this team develops. |

Hoping for a bit of a flurry through the door today/this week to get everyone excited ready for pre-season. Although I'm starting to think we'll be seeing a number of trialists to plug some gaps. |

Yeah I don't associate our colours as anything other than blue and black stripes personally. This has happened on more than one occasion where we've deviated back into a blue primary kit. Wonder if there's someone in the club who keeps floating this idea.
Also notice that whenever there's a fans vote on kits then stripes always wins. Certainly won't be purchasing this one whereas a striped kit I any well have done.
I'm not a particular fan of O'Neills either, we've had them a couple of years now and their sportswear isn't exactly inventive and doesn't have people rushing to buy stock. I was disappointed when we announced we'd extended our agreement with them.

Definitely intrigued if it's Ian Watson (and looks to be assistant Carl Magnay?)
Not without risk but surely every appointment is. I would imagine questions were asked regarding how they step up two divisions, and whoever's involved in the interview process happy with the answer. There's an abundance of managers out there we've clearly made a move for someone who fits the profile from further away than the M62.
Key difference here is player recruitment, whoever comes in has a solid core capable squad and then a relative blank canvas and solid budget to make moves in the transfer market and set up their style of play. Imagine the difficult job if Jim had signed everyone up for another year then jumped ship?
This could be an exciting pre-season (again) as we see the real start of the new era.
No real expectations going into next season just yet but anyone who comes in wanting to play fast gets a thumbs up from me. That could get Spotland rocking early in the season. |

If he goes he goes with best wishes and luck for what could be a tough job for him.
He's certainly not irreplaceable, but it does sting a bit given the momentum we've built over the past 12+ months. Jim's given a lot of talk of his love for the club and how proud he has been to be part of this new era. The Ogden's have backed him tenfold and undoubtedly we wouldn't be anywhere close to where we are now without their support. He's thrived off that and I think their loyalty deserves his to be honest.
The football I could take nor leave. We were spoilt with some unbelievable moments last season but that was a one off and papered over some significant cracks at times.
My only concern is the momentum going through summer. 2000 season tickets sold so far and we're barely in June. How much does that stall if Jim takes all the backroom staff + KG for instance. We're looking at another 4/5 weeks before someone comes in and starts implementing ideas.
Let's not immediately look internally. Let's be ambitious for a manager with an ethos we can get behind. Who knows the player market well so we can keep momentum going into next season. |

Edwards - yes
Henderson - yes
Anyone that's a no I don't believe has EFL quality and I think the NL is their level. Taz is a shame as he works hard and is obviously very popular, but he hasn't kicked on in my eyes and struggled to really contribute past some tricky wing play.
My only uncertainty is McBride. We've seen some good games from him and I wonder if the team/play adapts next year whether we might see the best out of him. There's probably better on the market though.
Feels a bit ruthless given the circumstances but this is a huge step up and realisitcally below top 5 in NL is dross. We need to be ambitious (within budget) with a team that's reflective of the level.
I expect our playing style to adapt next year to better suit L2 with players who have more to offer.
Would also love Whatmuff/Perry back - but think they're both destined for bigger things. The positive in our favour is that they're parent clubs are now both PL sides and we've been promoted. |
