I will leave conments on Captain Jack to others but I'm equally worried about Dobbin. So anonymous you forget he's playing. A lot needs doing before the big 'slamming' shut next week. This result doesn't matter. Swap last season's 3-0 at Norwich for the league defeat and we'd now be in the prem - but individual performances do matter as does the fact that that was a first team defence (minus Manning). |

Thanks Nick - there's been a lot of anger flying around over the past couple of weeks and you were unfairly subjected to some of it.
I agree with most of what you say but the stand-out bombshell is that you are a member of Team Keep Tonda!! Is that really feasible given all that his behaviour has brought down on the club?
I was interested to read the info on the FA's powers - everything I've heard in recent days is a horror story suggesting they can do virtually what they like with us!!
Now the dust has settled we need to direct our remaining anger productively. Yes Gibbon is a winker and the EFL are a joke but unless something constructive can be done on that front we need to look at our club. Not in a masochistic, we deserved it all way, but looking at the club's response to 'Spygate' from day one:
I sincerely believe that with an intelligent, proactive response that battled for control of the narrative from the start we WOULD have been at Wembley on Saturday. Expulsion was in no way inevitable but others made it inevitable and we seemed to be helpless before it. The question of whether we deserved what we got is, in a sense, no longer relevant, it's gone. Instead why it all happened, both the spying and 'spygate' need to be addressed - NOW. |

After all things like biased panels and accusations of prior knowledge are standard conspiracy stuff but if, however big the if, it were true then it should be out there. Taking the most extreme cynical view of this dirk - you can't help thinking that Mboro played a blinder from the start (or before the start!?) and we were totally useless. Our whole trial by media was orchestrated by them with no push back from us. They knew we were guilty and worked hard towards expulsion (even though it wasn't their business to do that), but their biggest achievement was planting the Mboro re-instatement idea into the mix.
Just about everyone from the very start, without even thinking about it, accepted that if we were out they were in. Even though, as with all of this, there is nothing in the rules and regs. They manufactured that assumption and it became a 'truth'. It may sound strange to say, given the cheating, but they lost that semi fair and square. They knew that hence the cry-baby manager, threatening statements etc. They knew a Hull bye represented justice so they fought with that in mind from the start. The Saints did NOTHING.
Total victory for them and as they are still totally in charge of the narrative I would say even if the whistleblower and biased panel are true there will be no comeback. As I say, if you forget fair-play and justice (for other sides not just us), a total blinder. I just hope they lose tomorrow - they deserve to. |

To all the shut up and accept it brigade: It is perfectly legitimate to ask questions about the procedure and about fairness/justice. Saints were certainly guilty but they still deserved due process and I see no harm at all in discussing/examining any issues arising. Remember that all the sh1te being poured on Saints is based on one report. The club's reputation should be determined by facts (which are bad enough) without hostile spin/misinformation
I respect those that have had enough and just want to suck it up. All you need to do is stop reading and posting. I will probably be joining you soon because I can't help thinking the whistleblower and M'boro biased panel 'facts' may be fake news. But stranger things have happened. The political tactic in this post-truth age is to flood the field will endless info that might or might not be true and constantly leave no time for debate or discussion of what's true and what isn't. Epstein embarrassing - invade Iran, not going well let's get Cuba in the news and make-up 20 million 'facts'.
What I mean by mentioning all that above is that this is overwhelming. There's too much and everything is being hurried through. I said right at the start that those that take control of the narrative are in charge of the agenda. Mboro took total control and everything has danced to their tune since. The EFL's agenda was speed and a kick-off tomorrow for their money-spinner. The media love a good scandal and us being kicked out was by far the sexiest outcome.
The simple question is: What is true in all we are seeing? The (far too late) counter-offensive suggests Mboro connected people on the panel, Mboro advance knowledge of the spy. Is this being looked into? If it's true why not a peep from the club?
The stuff you mention about the undue haste and ignoring of due process is obviously true. So, again, why not a peep from Saints? We were told they had Pannick, and yet all they've done is roll over and accept the kicks.
The one thing I don't believe is the stuff about Salt. Saints fully accept he went there to spy so he must have been on our payroll.
I think the club played it all wrong from the start and never came anywhere near taking control of the narrative. Total and open honesty in the public realm from the start with the requisite suspensions (or sackings if legal) and we would be in a far better position now.
Once I realised we were guilty I pinned my hopes on a legal objection to the clearly poorly written regulations and the steamrollering through of it all (one evening the next day for the appeal and the 14 days is up TODAY). I didn't do this because I felt we deserved to avoid punishment. Due process should be followed. Hull/Saints should have gone ahead amidst a proper fair enquiry with the acceptance by all parties that if after due process Saints WERE chucked out Hull, even if defeated, would progress. Only one party would have objected to that and they were the ones who controlled the whole narrative.
All I want now is to know the truth. It is out there... |

We are still supposed to have due process in this country. The 14 days that Saints were supposed to have runs out TODAY. One evening for an appeal.
I have a feeling that the info about the panel and the whistleblower may be malicious fake-news planted on line by people who know that devastated fans will be searching for just this sort of stuff. Even so shouldn't it be investigated - if these things ARE true then Mboro might as well not bother to turn up tomorrow. Even if Saints are behaving like limp lettuce leaves Hull and others will be more on the ball. |

Herts Saint - Saints were blustering about 'considering all options' before the appeal. I thought there were ideas of legal action. They now seemed to have meekly rolled over. The lesson for me is that we are not big enough to get away with cheating.

You're right about the EFL Herts Saint. There are people there who are paid loads of money to draft regulations but those relating to spying are in no way fit for purpose. No setting out of sanctions and no special provisions for play-offs. They should have taken that into account. I'm rather surprised at the docile way Saints seem to have accepted it. Yes, we were guilty but such uncertainty over likely sanctions was plain wrong. As was the rushed timetable. We were supposed to get 14 days. |

Tonda is toast whatever we think. I'm surprised any fans believe he can possibly stay. It is almost certainly true that his organised cheating operation wasn't a significant reason for his success (an excellent argument for how stupid it was) but that success now means nothing. Its like a dope cheat in athletics - everything is totally and for ever down the toilet. Tonda is a good young manager but he is exposed as a cheat who has caused one of the greatest calamities in Saints history. If that is NOT a sackable offence then there will be a good dozen previous managers wondering why they went in recent years. Puel went after coming 8th in the Prem, and without cheating at all.
Lots of fans are worried about all the cheat songs/chants next season - Tonda in the technical area will not help with that.
He will go, today I suspect - the club won't wait until he gets a 12 month suspension.
Its all very sad but Tonda brought this pile of sh1te down on us - all the pain of the last couple of weeks and in the coming times are at his door. Yes - others will share responsibility but he ordered this. |
